RESULTS
NEWBURY, N.H. – The Babson College ski teams wrapped up
their opening weekend with another giant slalom race at Mount
Sunapee on Saturday. The women's team moved up one spot to
seventh place in their second race of the season, while the men
posted a fourth-place finish for the second straight day.
Senior captain Alexis Burton led the women's team for the
second day in a row, as she finished in a tie for 24th place
overall. She was followed closely by fellow senior captain
Alyssa Sullivan in 26th place, while sophomores
Franny Robertson and Hilary Reis
rounded out the team's top four in 34th and 40th place,
respectively. First-year Jaclyn Lacavalla added a
55th-place performance while classmate Sopie
Komornicki finished 64th overall.
In the men's race, first-year Mark Grundy
followed up Friday's magnificent collegiate debut with an
even better performance on Saturday, as he moved up one spot to
third place overall. His combined time of 1:47.71 was 1.07 seconds
off the winning pace of 1:46.64. Senior captain Max
Winthrop had another big day, finishing 14th overall,
while sophomore Zach Breakstone tied for 29th.
A quintet of skiers rounded out the men's lineup within 17
spots of each other. Sophomore Ryan Drake finished
42nd, junior Greg Lafrance came in 43rd, sophomore
Ricky Beneduci placed 47th, first-year
Stephen Seibel came in 55th, and senior
Scott Kern finished 59th.
