RESULTS
WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. -- The Babson College women's alpine ski
team posted its best finish of the season on Sunday, as the Beavers
finished sixth in the giant slalom on day two of the Plymouth State
Carnival at Waterville Valley. Meanwhile, the men's team turned a
fourth-place finish for the third straight race and the fifth time
this season.
As a result of their performances, the women's team leapfrogged
Smith for seventh place in the MacConnell Division's overall
standings, while the men remained in fourth.
The Babson women were paced by senior captains Alexis
Vest-Burton, who finished 15th overall with a combined
time of 2:12.07, and Alyssa Sullivan, who was
close behind in 20th place with a 2:12.50. Rounding out the
Beavers' scoring four were sophomores Franny
Robertson and Hillary Reis, who placed
30th and 37th, respectively. First-year Jaclyn
Lacavalla added a 51st-place effort, and first-year
Sophie Komornicki finished 57th.
In the men's race, senior captain Max Winthrop
led Babson for the second straight day, following up Saturday's
ninth-place effort with a 10th-place performance of 2:07.24 on
Sunday. Sophomore Zach Breakstone added a
31st-place effort, sophomore Ricky Beneduci came
in 40th, junior Greg LaFrance placed 42nd,
sophomore Ryan Drake came in 49th, and senior
Scott Kern finished 53rd.
