RESULTS
NORTH CONWAY, N.H. – The Babson College alpine ski teams
competed in their first slalom competition of the season on Friday,
as the women placed seventh and the men took fifth on day one of
the UConn Carnival at Mount Cranmore. As a result, the women
remained in eighth place in the MacConnell Division standings,
while the men remained in fourth overall.
The women's team was led by sophomore Franny
Robertson, who posted the second best finish of her career
by placing 20th overall with a combined time of 1:36.77. She was
followed by senior captains Alyssa Sullivan and
Alexis Vest-Burton in 26th and 32nd place,
respectively. Rounding out the Beavers' lineup were sophomore
Hilary Reis, who placed 45th overall, and
first-year Sophie Komornicki, who came in
56th.
For the third straight race, first-year Mark
Grundy led the men's team with a top-10 finish, as
he placed sixth overall with a two-run combined time of 1:31.62.
Sophomore Zach Breakstone posted Babson's
second-best finish with a 30th-place performance, followed by
sophomore Ricky Beneduci in 40th, senior
Scott Kern in 45th, senior captain Max
Winthrop in 58th, and senior captain Keith
Vella in 64th.
