BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Zeke Testa (Wellesley,
Mass.) stopped 30 of 31 shots in goal to lead Babson to a
3-1 non-league college ice hockey victory over Suffolk Tuesday
afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.
The visiting Beavers (6-6) erased a one-goal deficit by scoring
three times in less than five minutes midway through the second
period. After sophomore Andrew Flynn (Stamford, Conn.) had given
the host Rams (4-8) a 1-0 lead 6:53 into the middle frame on feeds
from senior Tom Coulstring (Whitman, Mass.) and freshman Joe
Martignetti (Winchester, Mass.), sophomore Ryan Smith
(Lynnfield, Mass.) evened matters for Babson at the 12:21
mark on assists from junior Dan Ahern (Melrose,
Mass.) and freshman Matt Furey (Quincy,
Mass.). Senior captain Jason Schneider
(Littleton, Mass.) gave the visitors the lead for good
just 2:45 later by converting feeds from senior
captain Terry Woods (Duxbury, Mass.) and
junior Sean Roche (Franklin, Mass.), and
junior Mike Hoban's (Medfield, Mass.) power
play tally less than two minutes later on helpers from junior
Cody Carlson (Peterborough, N.H.) and sophomore
PT Donato (Arlington, Mass.) closed out the
scoring for the contest.
Testa made 12 of his saves in the second period in collecting
his third win of the season in goal for Babson, while senior Jeff
Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) made 31 stops in net in the setback for
Suffolk as the Beavers outshot the Rams by a 34-31 margin for the
afternoon.
Suffolk hosts Utica in a non-league outing on Saturday evening
at Walter Brown Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Babson travels
to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Friday evening to take on Skidmore in
an ECAC East match-up that also faces off at 7:00 p.m.
