Men's Skiing Caps USCSA National Championship Appearance With Ninth-Place Finish In Slalom

SLALOM RESULTS

SUNDAY RIVER, Maine -- The Babson College men's alpine ski team wrapped up its 2009-10 season at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River on Saturday, where the Beavers finished ninth in the slalom competition. As a result, Babson placed 10th out of 21 teams overall at the championships.

With one skier not completing his first run and another being disqualified, the Beavers needed outstanding performances from its three remaining competitors to improve upon its 11th-place finish in Thursday's giant slalom. That's exactly what happened, as junior Max Winthrop (Avon, Conn.), senior captain Connor Lemenze (Stratton Mountain, Vt.), and first-year Zachary Breakstone (Sparta, N.J.) all finished in the top 50 overall. Winthrop placed 22nd with a combined time of 1:50.14, Lemenze finished 37th with a two-run total of 1:55.80, and Breakstone came in 47th with a combined time of 2:00.51. As a result, Babson finished ninth overall in the slalom and 10th in the combined team standings.
