SUNDAY RIVER, Maine -- The Babson College men's alpine ski team
kicked off its seventh appearance at the United States Collegiate
Ski Association (USCSA) National Championships at Sunday River on
Thursday, where the Beavers finished 11th overall in the giant
slalom competition.
Leading Babson was the duo of junior Max Winthrop (Avon,
Conn.) and senior captain Connor Lemenze (Stratton
Mountain, Vt.). Winthrop posted the Beavers' top
performance by finishing in a tie for 28th place overall, posting a
two-run time of 2:15.44. Meanwhile, Lemenze turned in one of the
finest efforts of his collegiate career, recording a combined time
of 2:17.11 to place 39th overall - his best individual finish in
three trips to Nationals.
Rounding out the Beavers' lineup on Thursday were junior
Keith Vella (Sussex,N.J.), who finished 54th
overall, senior captain Chris Jacobs
(Rochester,N.Y.), who placed 67th, and first-year
Ricky Beneduci (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.), who came
in 72nd in his national championship debut.
Babson will cap off its stellar season on Saturday, when the
Beavers participate in the slalom portion of the Championships. The
competition will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m.
