SCORE
BABSON PARK, Mass. -- First-year Eric Anderson
(Scituate, Mass.) scored his team-leading seventh
goal of the season and sophomore Peter Crowley (Lexington,
Mass.) made seven saves in net as the Babson College
men's soccer team finished in a 1-1 double-overtime tie with host
Connecticut College in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday
afternoon. With the deadlock, the Beavers, ranked 10th in New
England by the NSCAA, are now 7-4-1 on the season, while the
Camels, ranked fifth in the region, move to 5-1-1.
Babson opened the scoring in the 51st minute of play. Sophomore
Salomon Guindi (Mexico City, Mexico) was able to
lead Anderson into the scoring box for a one-on-one situation.
Anderson then chipped in a high shot that nestled just under the
crossbar for the game's first goal.
The Beavers' lead lasted until the final minute of regulation,
when the Camels evened the game with just 32 seconds left. Oscar
Brown (Ridgefield, Conn.) delivered a pass from the right side
across the box near the far left post. Graham Christensen (Darien,
Conn.) was able to control the ball and find the net with a low
shot for his third goal of the season.
The Camels had chances to win the contest in both overtime
periods. With 32 seconds left in the second session, Nicholas
Signoriello (Trumbull, Conn.) made a nifty move on his defender and
served a cross out in front of the goal. Trevor Prophet (Nashua,
N.H.) was able to get a head on it but Crowley made the save to
preserve the draw.
Alex Martland (Marblehead, Mass.) made six stops for the Camels.
