RESULTS
NORTH CONWAY, N.H. -- Babson College senior co-captain
John Roche (Hingham, Mass.) followed up Friday's
brilliant ninth-place performance with another spectacular effort
on Saturday, as he placed fourth overall in the slalom on day two
of the UConn Carnival at Mount Cranmore. Thanks to Roche's second
straight top-10 finish, the men's ski team finished fifth overall
at the event.
Roche was awesome on Saturday, using runs of 40.95 and 46.02
seconds to take fourth out of 71 skiers with a total time of
1:26.97. The finish matched a career-best for the 2008
All-American, who also placed fourth in the slalom portion of last
year's ECSC Regional Championships at Waterville Valley.
Also skiing well for Babson were junior Connor Lemenze
(Stratton Mountain, Vt.), who finished 20th overall,
junior Chris Jacobs (Rochester, N.Y.), who tied
for 22nd, sophomore Keith Vella (Sussex, N.J.),
who came in 24th, and sophomore Max Winthrop (Avon,
Conn.), who placed 39th.
The Babson women's team finished 10th overall on Saturday, as
none of the Beavers' three competitors were able to complete both
of their runs.
