BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Babson College senior co-captain
Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) moved into sole
possession of first place on the program's all-time points list on
Saturday, but the Beavers still fell to the University of Chicago,
3-2, on the first game of the team's midwest trip.
Winn, who entered the day tied with Jonah Frisch '03 with 103
career points, scored a pair of goals to push his record total to
107. With Babson trailing 1-0, he netted his first of the day off a
free kick from 25 yards out at 14:27 to tie the contest at one
apiece. Later in the period, he knocked in a loose ball off a
rebound of first-year Max Walker's (Newton, Mass.) shot for his
second of the game at 33:35, giving the Beavers a 2-1 cushion at
the break.
Chicago came storming back with a pair of goals in the second
half, both coming off the foot of Stanton Coville. His first
came off a rebound in front of the net at 61:36, and the eventual
game-winner followed at 80:54 when he converted a short cross from
Kenzo Manners.
First-year Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) went the distance in
net for Babson, making a total of nine saves, while Chris Giusto
turned away five shots in goal for Chicago.
The Beavers conclude their midwest trip tomorrow afternoon, when
they take on Aurora University at 1 p.m. local time (2 p.m.
ET).
