WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's golf team returns to the Williams Invitational at Taconic Golf Club for the 10th time since 2016.
• After years as a 36-hole event featuring 18 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday, this year's tournament will be decided over 54 holes for the second consecutive season with the Beavers and their competitors playing 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
• Taconic Golf Club, which was originally designed in 1927 and renovated in 2009 by renowned golf course architect Gil Hanse, was ranked 78th on the "100 Greatest Public Courses" list published by Golf Digest last year.
2025 WILLIAMS INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Junior
Aman Vantipalli posted a 54-hole score of 1-over 214 that included a second-round 66 on the way to finishing third,
Colin Fowler '26 tied for sixth place at 5-over 218 and Babson led wire-to-wire on the way to recording an 11-shot victory over second-place Williams on September 20-21 at Taconic GC.
• Senior
Jack Berry shot 76-70-75 to grab a share of 13th position at 8-over and junior
Chad Tordone carded rounds of 70-77-75 to tie for 16th place for the Beavers, who registered the low score of the tournament in round two (283) and finished at 22-over 874.
• Junior
Howie Poon also tied for 30th place overall at 16-over for the Green and White.
• Babson led the field in par-3 scoring (7-over), eagles (3) and birdies (42), and was second in both par-4 and par-5 scoring in last year's victory.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
• No. 20 Babson opened the 2026-27 season by shooting 299-298-296 to finish 10th at 29-over 893 in its debut at the Gate City Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., on Monday and Tuesday under new head coach
Alexander Jones.
• Vantipalli, who held a one-stroke lead late in the final round, shot 71-72-71 to finish in a tie for fifth place at 2-under 214, sophomore
Luke Walker closed with a 1-under 71 to tie for 32nd position at 6-over and Berry grabbed a share of 53rd place at 12-over for the Beavers.
• The Green and White returns three of its top five players from a 2025-26 squad that finished 23rd at the NCAA Division III Championship last May and conclude the season with a 294.28 stroke average.
• Vantipalli, a two-time GCAA All-America honorable mention, posted a 73.26 stoke average that included four top-15 finishes, Berry (74.28) garnered PING/GCAA Region I accolades thanks to five top-30 results, and Tordone (76.12) came in under par twice and also earned a spot on the all-region squad.
TACONIC TRENDS
• The Beavers have finished fifth or better in eight of their last nine trips to the Williams Invitational with the lone exception coming in 2024 when they tied for seventh.
• Included in Babson's run of success at Taconic GC is first-place finishes in 2021, 2023 and 2025, as well as a third-place showing in 2022.
• The Green and White has shot 299 or better in nine of its last 11 rounds at Taconic GC and owns a 292.91 team scoring average during this stretch going back to the opening round of the 2021 tournament.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Vantipalli's bogey-free 66 in the second round of last year's tournament is tied for the best score of his career and ranks second in relation to par to his 6-under 66 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate last March.
• Babson posted both its low 18-hole team score (276) and 36-hole score (560) at Taconic GC in 2021.
• In seven 54-hole tournaments going back to the start of last season, the Beavers own a team scoring average of 885.14.
ABOUT THE FIELD
• This year's 17-team field features many of the top programs in the northeast including nine teams from the NESCAC and three more from the Liberty League.
• Babson (23rd) and Pomona-Pitzer (24th) are the highest ranked teams set to compete this weekend based on last year's Scoreboard rankings.
• Middlebury, Skidmore, Amherst, Tufts and Wesleyan, which finished fifth through fifth at last weekend's Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury will all tee it up this weekend at Williams.

• The Beavers return to action on October 5-6 when they travel to Douglasville, Ga., for the 54-hole West Pines Collegiate.
