DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Junior
Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) fired a 1-under-par 70 to record his third straight top-10 finish, helping 20th-ranked Babson College place fourth in the West Pines Collegiate at West Pines Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Beavers shot 293 in the final round to conclude the 54-hole tournament with a score of 8-over 860. No. 10 Oglethorpe finished at 17-under 835, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Shenandoah (847), while Hampden-Sydney placed third at 1-under 851.
Vantipalli, who started on the fourth hole, began his day with nine consecutive pars before carding birdies on Nos. 13, 15 and 17 to get to 4-under for the tournament. Despite a pair of late bogeys, he tied for 10th place overall with a 54-hole score of 2-under 211.
Sophomore
Luke Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) followed up Monday's rounds of 71 and 68 by carding a pair of birdies on the way to shooting a 5-over 76. He tied for 21st place overall at 2-over 215 for the tournament. Classmate
Mason Malouf (Boston, Mass.) also made two birdies in his final round and tied for 28th place with a 54-hole total of 4-over 217.
Senior
Jack Berry (Western Springs, Ill.) made a pair of early birdies and was 1-under through his first 12 holes on the way to shooting a 1-over 73, which helped him tie for 41st place at 6-over 219 for the tournament. First-year
Jay Sherwood (Duxbury, Mass.) posted a third-round 77 and tied for 65th place at 10-over.
Babson will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule next Monday and Tuesday at the Tartan Invitational in Ligonier, Pa.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• The Beavers' 54-hole total of 860 is their lowest in three events at West Pines Golf Club, and 12 shots better than the 872 they shot while placing fourth in 2023.
• Babson has traveled to Georgia eight times over the past nine seasons for either the Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Invitational or West Pines Invitational and now owns six top-five finishes.
• Vantipalli boasts a 71.22 stroke average in nine rounds at West Pines Golf Club, which includes finishing under par four times.
• Walker tied for eighth in par-5 scoring at 5-under, Malouf tied for 10th in par-4 scoring at even-par and Vantipalli tied for 10th in par-3 scoring at even.
