No. 20 Men's Golf Heads South for the West Pines Collegiate Beginning Monday

WHAT TO KNOW
•     The Babson men's golf team travels to the Atlanta suburb of Douglasville, Ga., to compete in the 54-hole West Pines Collegiate hosted by Oglethorpe beginning on Monday morning. 
•    The Beavers are taking part in the event, which is being played at West Pines Golf Club for the fourth year in a row, for the eighth time since 2018.
•    The 23-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. 

2025 WEST PINES COLLEGIATE HIGHLIGHTS
•    Junior Aman Vantipalli closed with a 3-under 68 as Babson finished 14th among 21 teams with a 54-hole total of 38-over 890 at West Pines Golf Course on October 6-7. 
•    Vantipalli shot 73-74 on day one and finished tied for 11th place at 2-over 215, while Colin Fowler '26 opened with a 71 and tied for 52nd position at 12-over 225. 
•    Junior Chad Tordone shot 72-77-77 and finished tied for 55th place at 14-over for the Beavers, who posted rounds of 295-301-294. 

ABOUT THE BEAVERS
•    No. 20 Babson followed up its 10th place finish at the Gate City Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., in mid-September with a third-place showing at the Williams Invitational on September 20-21. 
•    Vantipalli (76-71-73) and first-year Jay Sherwood (71-76-73) both tied for eighth place at 7-over, senior Jack Berry shot 71-75-80 to finish in a tie for 20th and sophomore Luke Walker opened with back-to-back rounds of 72 and came in 24th overall with a 54-hole total of 14-over 227. 
•    Vantipalli has finished at or below par in four of his first six rounds this fall and boasts a 72.33 stroke average to go along with a pair of top-10 finishes, Walker (74.83) finished under par in the final round of the Gate City Invitational and Berry owns a 75.67 average over his first six rounds. 
•    The Beavers have shot 296 or better in three of their six starts and have a 297.00 stroke average entering the West Pines Collegiate. 

SUCCESS IN THE PEACH STATE
•    In six previous trips to Georgia for the West Pines Collegiate (2023-24) and Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Invitational (2018-19, 2021-22), the Beavers have earned at least a share of first place twice and own five top-four finishes. 
•    Babson tied atop the leaderboard with Greensboro in 2018 and posted a 12-shot victory in 2021 to go along with a runner-up finish in 2023 and fourth-place results in both 2019 and 2025. 

HOMECOMING FOR VANTIPALLI
•    A two-time GCAA All-America honorable mention, the Alpharetta, Ga., native will tee it up in his home state for the third time in his career. 
•    Vantipalli boasts a 71.67 stroke average in six rounds at West Pines Golf Course and tied for ninth place in 2024 before posting a T-11 last fall. 

ABOUT THE FIELD 
•    The top-ranked team set to compete in this year's event is No. 10 Oglethorpe, while Hampden-Sydney, Greensboro, Rhodes and Berry all received votes in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Division III poll released on September 25. 
•    Fifteen of the 23 teams competing were among the top 60 in the final Division III Scoreboard rankings of last season. Included in this group are Christopher Newport, California Lutheran, Dickinson, Drew and McDaniel. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    In eight 54-hole events going back to the start of last season, the Beavers own an 885.75 team scoring average. 
•    Rhodes posted a score of 2-over 854 to win the 2025 event, while Oglethorpe finished at 2-under 850 to capture the 2024 West Pines Collegiate title. 
•    Vantipalli was first in par-4 scoring at 3-under to begin the season at the Gate City Invitational and tied for first in par-4 scoring at 3-over in the Williams Invitational. 

UP NEXT
•    Babson concludes the fall portion of its schedule at the Tartan Invitational outside of Pittsburgh, Pa., on October 12-13.
