WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson softball team will play its first back-to-back NEWMAC doubleheaders of the spring as they welcome unbeaten and 22nd-ranked WPI to Alumni Field to close an eight-game homestand on Friday before heading into Boston for a twin bill versus Emerson on Saturday afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY
vs. WPI
• Babson is 43-38 all-time against the Engineers in a series that dates back to 1989.
• The Beavers have won six in a row and seven of their last eight games versus WPI since 2023.
• Eleven of the last 15 games between the teams have been decided by either one or two runs, while includes both ends of last year's doubleheader as the Green and White defeated the Engineers 8-6 in game one and 3-2 in the nightcap.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (9-13, 1-3 NEWMAC) has dropped four straight games, three of them by a single run, and is coming off a 10-0 five-inning loss to UMass Boston in game two of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Mia Hansen was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the fifth and first-year
Izzy Burgess broke up the Beacons' no-hit bid with two outs in the inning with an infield single for the Beavers, who had just three base runners in the loss.

Belle DiCampello is batting .348 with eight extra-base hits, 15 RBI and six runs scored, classmate
Lexi Sealey is hitting .306 with a home run, nine doubles, 12 RBI and nine runs scored, and fellow junior

Anna Ziccardi is 4-2 with a 1.77 earned run average and 23 strikeouts over 35.2 innings, Sealey is 2-1 with three saves and a 2.94 ERA in 33.1 innings, and first-year

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
• No. 22 WPI (20-0, 6-0 NEWMAC) followed by a 10-2 five-inning victory in game one by routing Brandeis 14-5 to sweep Wednesday's doubleheader in Waltham, Mass.
• Virginia McKinney and Riley O'Brien both homered twice and combined to drive in 10 runs, Sandy Fairbairn hit a solo shot and Meg Sherwood went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Engineers, who put up double-digit runs for the sixth time this spring.
• Lucy Latour is batting .452 with five homers, four triples, three doubles, 10 stolen bases, 15 RBI and 26 runs scored, Emma Nagy is hitting .375 with six home runs, five doubles, a team-high 23 RBI and 17 runs scored, and O'Brien owns a .339 average to go along with a team-high eight dingers, three doubles, 18 RBI and 16 runs scored.
• Abby Merchant is 11-0 with a 1.55 earned run average, three shutouts and 40 strikeouts in 58.2 innings, while Naomi Boldebuck has gone 7-0 with a 1.84 ERA and three shutouts in 53.1 innings of work this spring.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (3-13, 1-5 NEWMAC) has dropped five consecutive games after suffering an 11-2 loss to WPI in the back end of last Saturday's doubleheader.
• Malena Cardinale was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored, while Kari Sorensen and Caleigh Sheehan each knocked in a run for the Lions, who finished with six hits in the loss.
• Avi Kuperman is batting .386 with a home run, seven doubles, seven RBI and six runs scored, Sorensen is hitting .350 with a double, six RBI and five runs scored, and Riley Caiazza owns a .260 average to go along with seven extra-base hits, a team-high 16 RBI and 10 runs scored.
• Sheehan is 3-7 with a 3.38 ERA, one shutout and 66 strikeouts over 58.0 innings pitched, while Kate Regan is 0-6 with a 6.16 ERA in 38.2 innings over 12 appearances this spring.

• Senior
Sophia Pak has three multi-hit games over the last two seasons versus WPI and boasts a .421 average (8-for-19) with a double, an RBI and a run scored in seven career contests against the Engineers.
• Junior
Ruby Madia hit a go-ahead three-run homer in game two of last year's twin bill after recording two hits and an RBI in the Beavers' 3-2 win over WPI.
• Walsh is batting .455 (5-for-11) with one RBI and two multi-hit games in four career outings against Emerson.
• Junior
Charlotte Raymond is 5-for-12 (.417) with an RBI and three runs scored in four career games versus Emerson.
TRENDS TO WATCH
• Burgess enters Friday's doubleheader against WPI riding a five-game hitting streak, while junior
Devin McCall has reached base safely in each of her last nine starts.
• DiCampello leads the Beavers in both multi-hit (8) and multi-RBI (4) games, while Sealey has recorded at least two hits on seven occasions this spring.
• Babson has walked just once over the last three games, which is its lowest total over any three-game stretch since April 19-21, 2023, when it drew one base on balls in a 1-0 loss to Tufts and 3-2 and 2-0 losses to Wellesley.
• The Beavers' pitching staff has allowed just two home runs over the last 15 games and five on the year, while WPI hit eight in Wednesday's sweep of Brandeis and ranks third in Division III with 31 this spring.
