SERIES HISTORY
vs. Amherst
• Babson is 0-4 all-time against the Mammoths in a series that dates back to 2009.
• All four previous matches took place more than a decade ago, with 8-1 scores in 2009 and 2010 followed by 6-3 in 2013 and 7-2 in 2014.
vs. Clark
• Babson is 34-2 all-time against the Cougars in a series that goes back to 1997.
• The Beavers have won 15 consecutive matches versus the Cougars since 2013 with six of the last seven coming by a score of 9-0 or 7-0.
LAST MEETING
vs. Amherst
• Fourth-ranked Amherst grabbed a 3-0 lead after doubles and then won four of six singles matches in straight sets to defeat visiting Babson, 7-2, on April 6, 2014 in Amherst.
• Roberto Perez '16 continued his superb play for the Beavers, winning his sixth consecutive match at number one singles, and classmate Isaac Thylen '16 picked up a victory at number three singles.
• Russell Einbinder, Myles Tang, Sam Silver and Phillip Qu recorded singles wins for Amherst after the Mammoths swept the three doubles matches.
vs. Clark
• The Beavers won all six singles matches in straight sets after sweeping the doubles for a 7-0 victory over the Cougars on October 18, 2024 at the Corash Tennis Courts in Worcester.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 11 Babson (11-3, 3-0 NEWMAC) has won all three matches since returning from its spring break trip to California, including its most recent victory over Emerson, 7-0, on Wednesday in the home opener.

• Senior
Alexander Merson (14-2) leads the team in singles wins, including 6-1 at number one. Wang (12-5) and Zlobinsky (12-4) are both 9-3 in dual matches, Wang in the top two flights and Zlobinsky in five different spots in the lineup. Mendoza (10-6) is 8-5 in dual matches, while O'Connell-DeCerchio (11-2) and Gadhi (10-5) both have double-digit singles victories this year.
• Merson and Zlobinsky are 8-2 in all matches and 5-1 at number one doubles, Wang and Mendoza (20-6) have gone 5-2 this spring at number two and seven different pairings have accounted for the team's eight victories at number three doubles, which includes Bourn and Lidman winning twice.
SCOUTING THE MAMMOTHS
• No. 20 Amherst (6-4, 4-2 NESCAC) is coming off a 7-0 conference victory over Hamilton last Saturday in Clinton, N.Y.
• Junior Andreas Sillaste, senior George Chaidemenos, first-year Lukas Frangenberg, sophomore Aldiyar Abzhan, junior Rex Harrison, and sophomore Albert Hu was the Mammoths' singles line-up in the victory. Chaidemenos and Harrison won at number two doubles and HU and first-year Ronald Gualario were winners at number three.
• Sillaste (15-6) is 7-3 at number one singles, Chaidemenos (9-4) is 5-2 at numbers two and three, Frangenberg (11-4) is 7-3 at numbers two and three, Abzhan (8-7) is 3-4 at number four, Harrison (5-5) has played in the bottom three slots, and Hu (6-3) is 4-2 at number six.
• Sillaste and Frangenberg are 6-4 at number one doubles this spring, Hu and Gualario are 5-4 at number three, and Chaidemenos is 3-6 at number two with either Harrison or Abzhan.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Clark (11-4, 2-2 NEWMAC) has won two of its last three matches, including a 4-3 conference triumph over Wheaton on Wednesday in Worcester.
• The Cougars earned the doubles point with a sweep by seniors Graham Russo and Edward Shepherd-Johnson and number one, junior Aris Kirkorian and sophomore Ziad Tabbara at number two, and first-years Benjamin Liu and Ved Rao at number three. They clinched the team victory with singles wins by Shepherd at number one, Tabbara at number two and Kirkorian at number four.
• Clark also has a conference win over Coast Guard (6-1) and NEWMAC losses to MIT (7-0) and Springfield (4-3).
NATIONALLY RANKED FOES
• Friday's tilt at No. 20 Amherst is the seventh of nine matches this spring for Babson against teams that are in the ITA Top 30 Team Rankings.
• The Beavers are 3-3 thus far with wins over No. 20 Rensselaer, No. 27 NYU, and No. 2 Chicago, two losses to No. 3/5 Tufts and one to No. 7 Bowdoin.
• Babson will also face No. 26 MIT on April 14 and No. 25 Brandeis on April 16.
WANG AND MENDOZA CLAIM NEWMAC WEEKLY HONORS
• Wang was selected as the league's singles player of the week for the second time this spring, while he and Mendoza garnered NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week honors for the first time on Monday.
• Wang recorded straight-set victories at number two singles in the Beavers' wins over Wheaton and Haverford, while Mendoza and Wang dropped just three games while winning twice at number two doubles.
MOVING UP THE CHARTS
• Wang and Mendoza have won 20 doubles matches this season, which is just two shy of the program's single-season record of 22 set by Merson last year.
• Wang ranks ninth in Babson history in both singles (36) and combined wins (74), and is also 10th all-time in doubles wins (38), while Mendoza's 40 doubles victories are good for ninth on the program's career list.
• Merson's 68 combined wins over two seasons with the Beavers are good for 12th on the program's career list.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers currently own a 12-match winning streak against NEWMAC foes dating back to the start of last season.
• Babson is 9-1 this season when winning the doubles point on the year.
• The Green and White have won 16 straight matches at the Babson Tennis Courts dating back to April 22, 2023.
