MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Four members of the Babson College men's tennis program were recognized for their success in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference teams on Friday.

Senior Martin Mejia (Cali, Colombia) was named to the All-Academic squad for the third consecutive season, classmate Alexander Merson (Palisades Park, N.J.) and junior Mattias Harrell (Oslo, Norway) earned their second NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolade, and sophomore Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) was honored for the first time in his career.

A Business Operations & Supply Chain major, Merson enjoyed an outstanding season for the Beavers, which included NEWMAC Athlete of the Year and first-team All-Conference as well as earning a berth in the NCAA Division III Singles Tournament, the first in program history. Ranked eighth in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), he finished the year with a 19-3 record in singles, tied for the second-most single-season wins in program history, including 13-1 in dual matches and 4-0 against conference foes. He also went 17-7 in doubles, including 12-5 in all dual matches¸ 8-4 at number one, and 3-1 vs. NEWMAC opponents. A two-year veteran with the Beavers after transferring from Brandeis, he has career records at Babson of 37-7 in singles and 39-13 in doubles.

Mejia, a Finance major, went 10-12 in doubles and 4-1 in singles this year for the Beavers. He earned All-NEWMAC honors in doubles after posting a 6-0 record against conference opponents. He won three doubles matches at number one and four at number three, and won his only dual match singles encounter at number four. A four-year veteran for the Beavers, he finished his career with records of 16-10 in singles and 25-21 in doubles.

A Business major, Harrell did not see any action this year due to studying abroad in the fall and injuries in the spring. He was 13-3 in singles and 7-3 in doubles last year, going 10-1 in singles in dual matches, and was 4-1 in dual matches in doubles, including 3-0 against conference foes. The three-year veteran for the Beavers has career records of 21-5 in singles and 11-5 in doubles.

A Finance major, Wang had another outstanding campaign for the Beavers. He finished second on the team in singles victories with a 17-7 record, going 14-5 in dual matches including 5-0 at number one singles, 9-5 at number two, and 3-0 versus conference opponents. He also posted an impressive 28-8 mark in doubles and earn a spot on the All-NEWMAC doubles team, going 4-0 against conference foes. His 28 doubles wins are second-most in a season in program history and his 27-7 mark with classmate Sebastian Mendoza are the most wins in program history by a doubles team. The 2025 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-NEWMAC selection in doubles, Wang owns career records of 41-11 in singles and 45-18 in doubles. His 86 career victories rank fifth in program history in combined singles and doubles wins.
