Softball Continues Homestand Against UMass Boston on Tuesday

SERIES HISTORY 

•    Babson is 17-8 all-time against UMass Boston in a series that dates back to 1987.
•    The Beavers have won eight in a row versus the Beacons going back to 2014 although the teams have not met since 2019. 

LAST MEETING
•    Following an 11-0 five-inning victory in game one, Josephine Mares '19 tied the game with an RBI double and scored on Ashley Tango's '19 one-out single up the middle as the Beavers completed a sweep of UMass Boston with a 3-2 win on April 27, 2019, in Babson Park. 
•    Jacqueline Paul '20 M'21 doubled twice and had four RBI as Brooke Stock '20 M'21 struck out six as part of a one-hitter in game one, while Tango finished 2-for-3 with three stolen bases in support of Katie Gademsky '20, who allowed just one earned run in a complete-game effort in the nightcap. 
•    Drew Washington went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in game two for the Beacons, who led 2-0 going to the bottom of the fifth. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (9-11) suffered a pair of one-run losses to MIT on Saturday dropping the opener 13-12 before suffering an 8-7 setback in game two.
•    Junior Charlotte Raymond went 2-for-4 with two RBI, classmate Lexi Sealey doubled twice and drove in two runs, and sophomore Belle DiCampello and first-year Izzy Burgess added two hits apiece for the Beavers, who recorded seven doubles and led 6-3 going to the third inning. 
•    DiCampello is batting .375 with eight extra-base hits, 15 RBI and five runs scored, DeLong is hitting .315 with five doubles, nine RBI and nine run scored, and Sealey owns a .303 average to go along with nine doubles, a home run, 12 RBI and nine runs scored. 
•    First-year Anna Ziccardi is 4-2 with a 1.77 earned run average and 23 strikeouts over 35.2 innings, Sealey is 2-0 with three saves and a 3.41 ERA in 24.2 innings, and junior Katie Vlacich (1-5, 4.93 ERA) has 23 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched. 

SCOUTING THE BEACONS
•    UMass Boston (11-5) salvaged a split of Saturday's doubleheader by winning game two 5-0 after dropping the opening 8-7 in 11 innings. 
•    Sofie Richland went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Lauren Miner homered and drove in two runs, and Mary Matthews added two RBI for the Beacons, who got a six-hit shutout from Izzy Levasseur. 
•    Richland is batting .460 with a .557 on-base percentage to go along with two extra-base hits, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored, Mya Perron is hitting .442 with four extra-base hits, nine RBI and eight runs scored, and Miner boasts a .436 average and a 1.274 OPS and has four home runs, three doubles, two triples, 14 stolen bases and a team-high 25 runs batted in. 
•    Lauryn Meade is 3-2 with a 1.40 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 30.0 innings, Levasseur is 3-1 with a 3.18 earned run average in 33.0 innings pitched and Lexus McIntosh has gone 5-2 with a 3.50 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 42.0 innings of work this spring. 

HIT PARADE
•    Despite dropping both ends of Saturday's doubleheader, the Beavers scored 19 runs on 28 hits, including 10 doubles and a home run against the Engineers. 
•    Sealey doubled three times and was one of four players along with DeLong, DiCampello and Burgess to record a two-bagger in each contest, while first-year Charly Landow registered her first career double in game two after picking up her first career RBI in the opener.
•    Raymond, who hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh in game one, finished the day with six hits and five RBI, senior Sophia Pak went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the opener and DiCampello produced a pair of multi-hit games. 
•    The Beavers' 28 hits in Saturday's doubleheader are their most since recording 33 in a sweep of Smith back on April 5, 2019. 

STREAKING INTO THE WEEK
•    DiCampello enters Tuesday's doubleheader riding a six-game hitting streak, which includes four consecutive multi-hit games, and has also driven in at least one run in each of the last six outings. 
•    Raymond has a hit in four straight games, while Burgess and Pak enter Tuesday's twin bill with three-game hitting streaks. 
•    Junior Emily Walsh has reached base safely in 10 consecutive starts dating back to March 21, classmate Devin McCall owns a nine-game on-base streak going back to March 20 and DeLong has reached safely in each of her last seven starts. 

BABSON TRENDS
•    The Green and White has recorded at least one extra-base hit in each of its last eight contests. 
•    In four games last week at Alumni Field, the Beavers hit .353 (18-for-51) with runners in scoring position.
•    Despite going 1-3, Vlacich has a 2.55 ERA and is holding opposing hitters to a .240 average to go along with 15 strikeouts in 24.2 innings over her last four starts. 
•    The Beavers have outscored their opponents 26-8 in the second inning this season, which includes a combined 11 runs in the second on Saturday against MIT. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 9-4 when allowing five or fewer runs this season.
•    Babson is 8-0 this spring and 101-10 going back to 2021 when leading after four innings. 
•    The Green and White is 6-2 this season and 29-9 dating back to the start of last year when recording more hits than its foes. 
•    The Beavers are 8-3 this spring when scoring at least three runs. 

UP NEXT
•    Babson will conclude its eight-game homestand on Friday when it hosts WPI at 3 p.m.
