SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.—Babson College graduate student
Joey Allen (Philadelphia, Pa.) was selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III Team of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Allen, was earned a spot on the squad for the second time this spring, was joined by Chris Cautosco of Western New England, Colin Reilly of Hartford, Springfield's Dom Savastano, Jake Marcotte of Norwich and Husson's Owen Giorgio.
Allen produced two goals and three assists for five points as Babson fought off a challenge to defeat MIT, 12-8, in Saturday's regular season finale. He scored to open the contest and then contributed a goal and two assists to spark a six-goal run that spanned parts of the third and fourth quarters as the Beavers turned a one-goal deficit into a 12-7 lead.
A starter in 14 of his 15 games this season, Allen leads the Beavers in scoring with 55 points on 34 goals and 21 assists. He ranks fourth in the NEWMAC in both goals and points and 10th in assists. He also leads the NEWMAC and ranks fifth in Division III with 10 man-up goals.
Top-seeded and fourth-ranked Babson (14-2) captured its third NEWMAC regular season title in four seasons and will host fifth-seeded Coast Guard in a conference semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m. on MacDowell Field.
