MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— On the heels of a four-game winning streak, Babson College graduate student
Ryan Grace (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Grace batted .346 with a .692 slugging percentage and two home runs, three doubles, nine RBI and eight runs scored in six games last week. He had at least one knock in all six outings and recorded three multi-hit games. He homered twice and drove in six runs in Thursday's 15-4 win over Johnson & Wales, had three hits, including a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's sweep of Clark, and capped the week by doing 2-for-4 with another double, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 9-4 win at Keene State.
A left-handed hitting designated hitter/first baseman, Grace is enjoying a strong season in his first year with the Beavers after transferring from Colby College. A starter in all 34 games, he is batting .357 with 26 walks, 11 doubles, nine home runs, 40 RBI, 40 runs scored and an OPS of 1.132. He ranks seventh in the NEWMAC with 46 hits, second in walks, fifth in doubles and slugging (.651), and fourth in home runs, RBI and OPS.
The Beavers (20-14, 8-5 NEWMAC) play their last regular season home game on Tuesday against Springfield at 3:30 p.m. at Govoni before wrapping up the regular season with a doubleheader against WPI on Saturday in Worcester.
