Connor Doan (Pasadena, Texas) improved to 4-0 on the mound striking out three and giving up four runs on seven hits over 7.0 innings. First-year
Bourke Reid (Ramsey, N.J.) recorded a pair of strikeouts in two shutout innings of relief.
Sophomore Derek Finlay (Nashua, N.H.) hit a two-run homer and classmate Trevor Snow (Barrington, R.I.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Owls. Junior Camden Thomas (Ellington, Conn.) struck out three and gave up just one unearned run over the first three innings before giving way to first-year Mason Pingree (Colchester, Conn.), who dropped to 2-4 with the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in an inning of work.
Sophomore Domminic Tagliaferro (Bedford, N.H.) gave the hosts a 1-0 lead with an RBI ground out in the bottom of the first before the Green and White pulled even when Miller scored on an error with one out in the third. D'Avanzo led off the fourth with a single, Hvozdovic followed with a double and they both scored on Harmon's two-run single to left to make it 3-1.
The Beavers started the fifth with five consecutive hits and extended their advantage to 5-1 when D'Avanzo singled through the right side to score Grace and sophomore
Brooks Saft (New Hope, Pa.). Doan had retired 11 in a row before junior Lucas Rogers (Deep River, Conn.) singled with one out in the bottom of the fifth and Finlay followed with a two-run blast to pull Keene State back within 6-3.
Babson answered right back in the top of the sixth though, as sophomore
Dylan Drazka (Rye Brook, N.Y.) and Valente both singled with one out before Grace's double to the gap in left center brought them both home to regain a five-run edge. The Green and White tacked on another insurance run in the top of the ninth and Reid struck out the final two batters he faced to end the game.
Babson is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Springfield at 3:30 p.m., while Keene State takes on Worcester State on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
