Softball Hosts No. 12 Tufts on Tuesday Afternoon

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 15-30 all-time against Tufts in a series that dates back to 1987.
•    The Beavers have dropped four consecutive one-run decisions versus the Jumbos going back to the 2021 NCAA Tournament after recording victories in back-to-back contests between the teams in 2018 and 2019.
•    The Green and White is seeking it first win over Tufts at Alumni Field since its 12-4 victory in game one of a doubleheader on April 10, 2019. 

LAST MEETING
•    Kerriann Slayton drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out single to center in the bottom of the fifth and Sophia Dicocco retired the final 11 batters she faced as Tufts came from behind to defeat Babson, 3-2, on April 22, 2025, in Medford, Mass. 
•    Kaitlyn Perucci went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Heaven Oliva doubled and knocked in two runs for the Jumbos, who got two strikeouts in a complete-game six hitter from Dicocco. 
•    Sara Moore '25 went 2-for-3 a double and a run scored, junior Emily Walsh singled twice and scored and sophomore Belle DiCampello added a first-inning RBI single for the Beavers, who led 2-0 going to the fifth.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (12-14) has won three of its last four games defeating Emerson 9-5 in game two of Saturday's doubleheader in Boston. 
•    Junior Charlotte Raymond went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, Walsh homered as part of a two-hit day and scored twice, and first-year Izzy Burgess doubled and finished with three RBI for the Beavers, who got seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort from junior Katie Vlacich in the circle. 
•    Raymond has raised her average to .360 with six extra-base hits, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored, DiCampello is batting .341 with six doubles, two triples, a team-high 19 RBI and nine runs scored, and junior Lexi Sealey is hitting .333 with 10 doubles, a home run, 16 RBI and 13 runs scored. 
•    First-year Anna Ziccardi is 4-2 with a 1.77 ERA in 35.2 innings, classmate Anna Topel (4-4, 4.06 ERA) has 34 strikeouts in 51.2 innings, Vlacich (2-7, 5.93 ERA) has fanned 35 batters in 46.0 innings, and Sealey is 2-1 with three saves and a 3.00 earned run average in 37.1 innings pitched. 

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
•    No. 12 Tufts (20-6) has won three of its last four games and earned a split of Sunday's doubleheader against Trinity with an 8-6 victory in game two.
•    Haley Leimbach went 3-for-4 with three RBI, Ella Malin singled three times and Oliva and Paige Murphy both had two hits and two runs batted in for the Jumbos, who pounded out 16 hits and went in front for good with a three-run fourth inning.
•    Murphy is batting .424 with 10 doubles, two home runs, 19 RBI and 23 runs scored, Oliva is hitting .410 with seven homers, eight doubles, a team-high 28 RBI and 17 runs scored, and Lauryn Horita boasts a .386 average to go along with 10 extra-base hits, 25 RBI and 20 runs scored. 
•    Avery Kanouse is 7-2 with a 2.41 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 66.2 innings, Sarah Brody (7-3, 3.41 ERA) has thrown 63.2 innings and has one shutout in eight starts, and Francesca Colangelo (6-1, 3.89 ERA, 45.0 IP) has made 12 of her 16 appearances in relief and has five saves. 

HIT PARADE
•    Seven different players finished with multiple hits in Saturday's doubleheader at Emerson, highlighted by Raymond recording three in each contest, junior Devin McCall providing two knocks in both outings, and Sealey and sophomore Samantha Skivo registering four and three hits, respectively, in Babson's 11-10 nine-inning game one win. 
•    The Beavers' 19 hits in game one on Saturday were their most since totaling 19 in a 14-7 win over LeTourneau on March 8, 2020, which turned out to be the final game of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
•    The 31 hits by Babson on Saturday were its most in a doubleheader since April 5, 2019, when it pounded out 33 in a sweep of Smith. 

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    McCall enters Tuesday's contest riding a five-game streak in addition to reaching base safely in each of her last 13 starts. During this stretch, which dates back to March 21, she is batting .361 with two doubles, eight RBI and a .452 on-base percentage. 
•    In eight games in the month of April, Raymond is batting .571 (16-for-28) with a home run, two doubles, eight RBI, six runs scored and a .613 OBP. 
•    DiCampello, Sealey and first-year Charly Landow all have at least one hit in four consecutive games. 
•    DiCampello leads the Green and White with nine multi-hit and five multi-RBI games. 

OLD FRIENDS ON THE OTHER SIDE
•    Sara Moore '25 and Cassidy Musco M'24 will return to Alumni Field as assistant coaches for Tufts on Tuesday.
•    A three-time NFCA Region II and All-NEWMAC honoree, Moore is the Beavers' all-time leader with 102 stolen bases and ranks second all-time in hits (224), fourth in runs scored (130) fifth in batting average (.388) and total bases (267) and sixth in on-base percentage (.441). 
•    Musco was a graduate transfer from Bates and batted .325 with four doubles, 11 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 19 runs scored over 43 games to help Babson reach the NEWMAC Tournament final in 2024. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 2-1 against nationally-ranked foes this season with wins over Wisconsin-Whitewater (2-1) on March 15 and WPI (3-2) last Friday. 
•    Babson is 9-2 when recording more hits than its opponents this season.
•    The Green and White is 10-1 this spring and 30-3 over the last two seasons when leading after five innings. 
•    The Beavers are 11-4 on the year when scoring at least three runs.
