Will Reading (Southlake, Texas) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse Face-Off Specialist of the Week on Monday afternoon.
A 6'1" senior, Reading won 9-of-12 face-offs and tied for game-high honors by scooping up six ground balls to help Babson open the season with a 19-7 win over Wentworth on Saturday. He won 7-of-9 first-half face-offs as the Beavers raced out to a 14-3 halftime advantage.
A four-year veteran and two-year starter, Reading led the NEWMAC last spring with 218 face-off victories and ranked second with 104 ground balls. His 218 face-off wins last year ranked second in program history for wins at the X in a season and his face-off percentage (54.6) ranked 12th highest while his 104 ground balls were sixth-most in program annals.
The Beavers (1-0) are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Schenectady, N.Y., to face Union at 1 p.m.
