BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College juniors
Lyndsey Newsome (Woodbine, Md.) and
Claire Jones (Sudbury, Mass.) were both recognized when USA Lacrosse Magazine released its 2026 Division III Preseason All-America teams on Tuesday.
Newsome was one of four defenders named to the third team, while Jones, a midfielder, received an honorable mention nod. The Beavers' duo was among 89 players to earn preseason All-America accolades from USA Lacrosse Magazine.
Newsome started all 19 games in 2025 and contributed seven ground balls and two caused turnovers while earning All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) second-team honors. In 25 contests over two seasons, she has scooped up 16 ground balls and forced six turnovers for one of the top defenses in the region.
Jones started all 18 games she appeared in last spring and finished second on the team with 31 draw controls to go along with 21 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. She has won 40 draws, picked up 23 ground balls and added 16 forced turnovers in 26 appearances for the Green and White over her first two seasons.
Babson, which finished 15-4 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season in 2024, will begin its 2025 campaign on Saturday, February 28, when it hosts Framingham State at 1 p.m.
