Morgan McGahan (Ho Ho Kus, N.J.) made eight saves as No. 19 Babson College defeated St. Lawrence University, 9-7, in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday evening.
Babson opens its season at 1-0 while St. Lawrence starts the year at 0-1.

Livy Kehoe (Harvard, Mass.) both finished with two goals and one assist, senior
Lilly Bedard (Jupiter, Fla.) provided a goal and two assists, and junior
Jen Austin (Farmington, Conn.) added a pair of helpers to lead the Beavers' attack. Sophomore
Courtney Laden (Wilmette, Ill.) led all players with five caused turnovers, classmate
Mackenzie Cassler (Franklin, Mass.) forced three turnovers and first-year
Allie Collins (Sudbury, Mass.) recorded a game-high five draw controls in the win.
First-year Tallis Tarbell (Akwesane, N.Y.) led all players with four points on three goals and one assist, senior Kelsey O'Brien (Hingham, Mass.) scooped up a game-high five ground balls to go along with three caused turnovers, and junior Jolie Osborne (Danbury, Conn.) recorded five forced turnovers to lead the Saints. Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Froimovitz (Ambler, Pa.) finished with nine saves in the loss.
Tied at three entering the third quarter, the Green and White scored four straight goals in less than six minutes to go in front for good. Wong put away a feed from Austin 50 seconds into the stanza,
Livy Kehoe and Bedard scored 24 seconds apart to make it 6-3 at the 11:23 mark, and Wong capped the run with another tally for a four-goal cushion with 8:51 to play in the period.
Tarbell stopped the run with the first of her three goals just over a minute later, but Collins won the ensuing draw and
Livy Kehoe converted a pass from Bedard to put the Beavers back up by four just 15 seconds later. Tarbell scored late in the frame and junior Kelsey Roth (Greenwich, Conn.) added a free-position goal to help St. Lawrence cut its deficit to 8-6 with 12:46 left in the fourth only to see Bedard set up
Bella Kehoe 65 seconds later to help Babson regain a three-goal edge.
Bella Kehoe opened the scoring just over three minutes into the contest but Froimovitz stopped three free-position shots and made five first-quarter saves before junior Jessica Laplaca (Wellesley, Mass.) tied the game with 63 seconds to go in the stanza. Lauren Caley (Beverly, Mass.) scored her first career goal at the 9:22 mark before Saints' sophomore Lily Stanton (Reading, Mass.) put away a free-position chance with 1:28 to go before the half to tie the game.
The Green and White finished with a 21-18 edge in shots, held a slim 20-18 margin in ground balls and finished with a 15-5 advantage in draw controls. St. Lawrence converted 3-of-6 free-position chances in the loss.
Babson returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Framingham State at 1 p.m., while St. Lawrence takes on SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

• Saturday's matchup was the first all-time between Babson and St. Lawrence.
• The Beavers have now won 39 straight games when holding their opponents to 10 goals or fewer.
