MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— The Babson College women's swimming and diving team earned a pair of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards when the conference announced the honors on Monday.
Sophomore
Tuana Turhan (Lake Forest, Ill.) was tabbed NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season, and the team of sophomores
Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.) and
Hailey Cronan (New Market, Md.), junior
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore
Julia Netishen (Exeter, N.H.) were named as the NEWMAC Women's Relay Team of the Week.
Turhan recorded a pair of first-place finishes and one runner-up result in three events during Saturday's dual meet at Wesleyan. She won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.90, came in second in the 50 butterfly clocking in at 27.31 and then won the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.81.
Babson's team of Gilbert, Cronan, Racicot and Netishen came in first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.59 in a dual meet at Wesleyan on January 3. The Beavers touched the wall 0.48 seconds ahead of the Cardinals in the race.
The Beavers (5-3-1) will compete in the final home meet of the season on Senior Day on January 24 against Bridgewater State, beginning at 11 a.m. inside Morse Pool.
