MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Babson College first-year Anna Bonazzoli (Clinton, Mass.) was tabbed the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Bonazzoli capped an emotional week by helping No. 7 Babson knock off No. 4 Williams 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. The first-year center back played all 67 minutes and keyed the Beavers' defensive effort that allowed the Ephs to a season-low four shots on goal.

The composure, leadership, and defensive tenacity of the first-year back were key in a top-10 matchup, all while navigating a personal tragedy just a week after losing her brother in a tragic motorcycle accident. Bonazzoli's performance not only helped the Beavers earn their first OT victory since the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament but also highlighted her resilience and impact as a cornerstone of Babson's defensive unit.

Babson (3-0) return to action on Wednesday with a trip to Saint Joseph's (Maine) for a 5 p.m. contest.
