Men's Golf Captures Williams Invitational Crown

Vantipalli, Fowler Record Top-10 Finishes as Beavers Capture Third Title at Taconic Since 2021

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Sophomore Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) closed with a team-best round of 2-over 73 to tie for third place as the Babson College men's golf team finished atop the leaderboard in the Williams Invitational at Taconic Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.

The Beavers, who captured their third Williams Invitational title in the last five seasons, shot 298 in the final round to finish 11 shots ahead of second-place Williams with a 54-hole total of 22-over 874. Amherst came in third at 888, Hamilton posted the low round of the day (289) to finish fourth at 889 and Tufts rounded out the top five at 890.

Coming off a bogey-free 66 in Saturday afternoon's second round that got him within one shot of the lead, Vantipalli made three birdies and five bogeys and recorded a 54-hole score of 1-over 214 that was just two shots behind medalist Nick Smith of Williams.

Junior Jack Berry (Western Springs, Ill.) and sophomores Chad Tordone (Barnstable, Mass.) and Howie Poon (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) all shot 75 on Sunday, while senior Colin Fowler (Portland, Ore.) carded a 5-over 76. Fowler, who made both an eagle and a double eagle while shooting 72-70 on Saturday, tied for sixth place with a 54-hole total of 5-over 218.

Berry made four birdies on Sunday to move into a tie for 13th position at 8-over 221, while Tordone finished in a tie for 16th place at 9-over 222. Despite a late double bogey following back-to-back birdies, Poon posted his lowest score of the weekend to move up into a tie for 30th place at 16-over 229.

Babson will return to action on October 6-7 when it travels to Georgia for the West Pines Invitational.
