DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Sophomore
Sophia Draxler (Chester, N.J.) and junior
Taijah Harvey (Concord, Mass.) both recorded personal best times and Babson College's top six harriers were separated by less than 90 seconds on the way to placing 18th in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Dowd Course.
The Beavers totaled 613 points in their first 6k race of the season and came in seventh among 23 Division III programs. Boston University finished first overall with 35 points and Connecticut College was tops among Division III squads with 157 points.
Draxler posted a time of 23:56 that was more than 30 seconds ahead of her previous best to finish in 105th position, while senior
Chloe Clifford (Marshfield, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 24:40, which was good for 134th place. Harvey cut more than 30 seconds off her previous best and finished with a time of 25:06, which was one spot and less than a second ahead of first-year
Sophia Nakakura (San Francisco, Calif.), who ran 25:07 in her 6k debut.
First-year
Ali Meyers (Darien, Conn.) recorded a time of 25:10, senior
Alexandra Kirkpatrick (Middleborough, Mass.) was eight spots behind her with a time of 25:20, and sophomore
Annabelle Svenson (Montclair, N.J.) finished the course in 26:51.
Babson returns to action on Friday, October 10, when it travels to Hopkinton, N.H., for the Hopkinton XC Festival.
