TEMPE, Ariz.—On the heels of earning regional recognition on Monday, Babson College associate head tennis coach
Alan Dubrovsky was selected as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's Tennis Assistant Coach of the Year on Tuesday afternoon.
The regional and national assistant coach of the year honors are the first for Dubrovsky, who is now in his third season with the program. The Beavers concluded a historic 2024-25 campaign on Monday night falling to No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Babson, which entered the spring ranked 25th, set new single-season program record with 22 victories and captured its second New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title in three seasons by going unbeaten in league play. The Beavers handed MIT its first conference tournament loss since 1995 to capture their first championship since 2021 and then defeated No. 36 Stevens and No. 8 Bowdoin in the NCAA Tournament Brunswick Regional to advance to the national quarterfinals for the first time in school history.
Under Dubrovsky's tutelage, first-year
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) set a new single-season record with 24 singles victories, while seniors
Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) and
Brady Anderson (Rochester, N.Y.), junior
Alexander Merson (Palisades Park, N.J.) and first-year
Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) all surpassed the previous single-season mark of 16 doubles wins this spring. Dubrovsky, along with head coach
Michael Kopelman and assistant
Mihir Auty, were selected as the NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year, while six players earned all-conference honors.
Along with helping the men to the most successful season in school history, Dubrovsky also helped the Babson women go 15-7 while reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament this spring.
It is incredible to see Alan recognized for all the hard work he has put into our programs," said Kopelman. "Alan has worked tirelessly to develop our student-athletes on and off the court.
"Over the last several years almost every Babson tennis record has been broken, including our first women's tennis All-Americans and national championship, and our men's team winning its first regional title this season. Both teams have also set single-season records for wins and reached their highest rankings. I truly appreciate Alan's hard work and dedication over the last three years. I am glad to see he has been recognized on the national level for his impact."
The Beavers, who attained their highest national ranking in program history (11th) back in early April, ended the year with an overall record of 22-3.
