Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) won the clinching point with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at number six singles as No. 14 Babson College defeated No. 8 Bowdoin College, 4-3, in the NCAA Tournament Brunswick Regional Final on Saturday inside the Falmouth Foreside Fit.
With its 10th consecutive victory, Babson improves to 22-2 overall while punching its ticket to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in Claremont, Calif., for the first time in program history. Bowdoin sees its season come to a close at 18-5.

Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) and junior
Alexander Merson (Palisades Park, N.J.) were 6-4 winners over senior Pieter Breuker (Manchester, Mass.) and first-year Kiran Garapati (Chicago, Ill.) at number one, but the pairing of junior Mark Kneiss (Athens, Greece) and sophomore Jackson Codd (Carlsbad, Calif.) won the final two games over senior
Brady Anderson (Rochester, N.Y.) and Mendoza to even things up with a 6-4 triumph at number two.
Bowdoin's duo of junior Nick Tamas (Portola, Valley, Calif.) and sophomore Aiden Dorros (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) got off to a quick start in the tiebreaker at number three to defeat Babson senior
Wesley Zhang (Staten Island, N.Y.) and first-year
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) 7-6 (7-3).
The Green and White responded by taking the first set in each of the first four singles matches. Wang cruised past first-year Cameron Zia (Washington, D.C.) 6-1, 6-2 at number four for the first point, Anderson bested Breuker 6-2, 6-1 at number two and Merson followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Codd to give Babson a 3-1 advantage in the match.
Kneiss battled back from a set down at number one to edge Lepsoe, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, while Garapati was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Zhang at number five to tie the match at 3-all and putting all the pressure on Mendoza and junior Andrew Mendelson (Los Angeles, Calif.) at number six singles. Mendoza never trailed in the opening set and won his third break point up 5-4 to close out a 6-4 victory. Both players held serve over the first seven games of the second before Mendoza broke Mendelson to go up 5-3 before closing out the victory on serve to set off a wild celebration
Babson will play its NCAA Tournament quarterfinal match on Monday, May 19.
MATCH NOTES
• Saturday's victory snapped a 14-match losing streak to Bowdoin and was the Beavers first win over the Polar Bears since 1997.
• Babson is now 8-2 this spring against top-40 opponents, a mark that includes top-10 victories over both Bowdoin and Middlebury.
• Wang and Merson both became the first players in program history to reach 40 combined singles and doubles wins in a season on Saturday.
• Lepsoe and Merson recorded their ninth consecutive victory at number one doubles in Saturday's triumph, while Mendoza recorded his seventh victory in a row with his clinching point at number six singles.
