NEW LONDON, Conn.—The Babson College women's track & field team recorded first-place finishes in three separate events on the way to placing fourth at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers totaled 73 points to finish behind the host Bears (96), Connecticut College (91) and Vassar (89), and added four runner-up results to go along with its three event wins on the afternoon.
Junior
Julia Pike (Mansfield, Mass.) and first-year
Victoria Hart (Greenwich, Conn.) came in first and second in Babson's first event of the day, the 100-meter hurdles. Pike crossed the finish line in a time of 16.41, while Hart's time of 16.67 was just 0.26 seconds behind her.
Hart also ran the anchor leg and teamed with senior
Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.), junior
Robyn Wilkes (Atlanta, Ga.) and sophomore
Reese Gallant (West Newbury, Mass.) to win the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.07. The Beavers other first-place result came in the 400-meter hurdles where sophomore
Colleen Corman (Quaker Hill, Conn.) crossed the finish line with a time of 1:08.51 to win by almost half a second.
Additionally, Corman, Hagstrom, junior
Chloe Clifford (Marshfield, Mass.) and first-year
Sophia Draxler (Montclair, N.J.) were the runners-up in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:17.01.
Wilkes came in second in the 200 meters with a time of 27.02, while first-year
Amrit Rehal (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished as the runner-up in the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 3.75-inches. Junior
Trista Sicard (Mansfield, Mass.) came in third with a mark of 36-feet, 7.25-inches in the triple jump that qualified her for the Division III New England Championships in May.
Clifford came in sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.07, sophomore
Maddie Stoltz (Somers, Conn.) placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 19.04 and Hagstrom took ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.92. Stoltz also finished 10th with a throw of 87-feet, 8-inches in the javelin, while Draxler was 10th running 2:29.77 in the 800 meters.
Babson is set to compete in a pair of events next week beginning with the UMass Multi-Meet on Wednesday and Thursday.
