SMITHFIELD, R.I.—The Babson College women's track & field team recorded top-10 finishes in six different events on the way to placing 12th among 16 scoring teams at the Bryant Black & Gold Invitational on Saturday.
The Beavers totaled 22 points to finish fifth among Division III squads at the two-day meet. The top seven scoring teams were all Division I programs, led by Bryant, which scored 148.5 points.
First-year
Amrit Rehal (Alpharetta, Ga.) recorded the top finish of the day for the Green and White, placing second in the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 5-inches. Junior
Trisha Sicard (Mansfield, Mass.) finished fifth with a leap of 33-feet, 9.25-inches in the triple jump, while sophomore
Colleen Corman (Quaker Hill, Conn.) placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.07.
Junior
Robyn Wilkes (Atlanta, Ga.) came in seventh with a time of 12.78 in the 100 meters and added a 12th-place showing with a time of 26.56 in the 200 meters. First-year
Victoria Hart (Greenwich, Conn.) came in ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.26, while junior
Julia Pike (Mansfield, Mass.) was just 0.12 seconds behind her in 10th with a time of 16.38.
Senior
Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.) finished 13th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.78 and 20th in the 200 meters (27.71), while first-year
Kate Henderson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) came in 13th with a throw of 99-feet, 7-inches in the javelin and was 19th with a mark of 24-feet, 0.25-inches in the shot put.
Sophomore
Ava Newton (Danvers, Mass.) finished 18th in the javelin with a throw of 84-feet, 3-inches and was 22nd with a time of 1:08.61 in the 400 meters. Fellow sophomore
Reese Gallant (West Newbury, Mass) took 18th place with a time of 13.67 in the 100 meters and also teamed with Wilkes, Hagstrom and Hart to finish seventh in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.25.
Babson returns to action next Saturday when it travels to New London, Conn., for the Coast Guard Invitational.
