MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—The Babson College women's track & field team recorded top-15 finishes in six events on the final day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Saturday inside Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
The Beavers finished eighth among Division III squads and 27th overall among 29 scoring teams with three points in the two-day meet.
Babson's top individual finish on Saturday came in the high jump where first-year
Amrit Rehal (Alpharetta, Ga.) broke the program's oldest school record set back in 2002 by clearing 5-feet, 5-inches to finish ninth overall. Her mark is currently tied with Katie Baller of Hardin-Simmons for first in Division III. The Beavers' other top-10 finish came in the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of sophomore
Colleen Corman (Quaker Hill, Conn.), first-year
Sophia Draxler (Montclair, N.J.), senior
Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.) and junior
Chloe Clifford (Marshfield, Mass.) finished sixth with a time of 4:13.43.
Junior
Trisha Sicard (Mansfield, Mass.) came in 12th with a leap of 34-feet, 5.50-inches in the triple jump, and Hagstrom placed 13th with a time of 1:02.85 in the 400-meter run. Corman finished in 15th position in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.52 and Clifford came in 15th after crossing the finish line with a time of 2:27.06 in the 800 meters.
Draxler came in 16th in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:34.92 and the Beavers' 4x100-meter relay squad of Hagstrom, junior
Robyn Wilkes (Atlanta, Ga.), sophomore
Reese Gallant (West Newbury, Mass.) and first-year
Victoria Hart (Greenwich, Conn.) finished 16th with a time of 51.52.
Wilkes crossed the finish line with a time of 26.31 in the prelims of the 200 meters, which is the fourth best in program history, while Hagstrom posted a time of 27.94. Gallant also took part in the prelims and registered a time of 28.94.
Babson returns to action next Friday and Saturday when it travels to Smithfield, R.I., for the Bryant Black and Gold Invitational.
