MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— Junior
Chloe Clifford (Marshfield, Mass.) captured third place in the 400 meters to lead the Babson College women's track & field team on day two of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Friday afternoon inside Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Clifford finished third in a career-best time of 1:02.74 in the field of 20 entries, trailing only Nova Southeastern sophomore Bella Butler (1:00.26) and Keiser (Fla.) first-year Virginia Tan (1:01.07). It bettered Clifford's previous PR of 1:03.93 achieved at the 2023 Coast Guard Invitational.
First-year
Shriya Peddi (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) turned in a solid performance in the 5000 meters in her collegiate debut on the track. She placed 11th out of 27 runners in a time of 19:24.86, less than 10 seconds out of finishing in the top 10.
Junior
Trista Sicard (Mansfield, Mass.) represented Babson in the long jump, finishing 22nd with a leap of 15-feet, 10.5 inches, just one inch off her career-best. The Beavers also had two entries in the 100-meter hurdles, as first-year
Victoria Hart (Greenwich, Conn.) placed 22nd in a time of 16:73 seconds in her collegiate debut and junior
Julia Pike (Mansfield, Mass.) finished 31st in a time of 18:10.
Junior
Robyn Wilkes (Atlanta, Ga.) and sophomore
Reese Gallant (West Newbury, Mass.) rounded out the list of Babson competitors, running in the 100 meters. Wilkes finished 49th out of a field of 82 sprinters in a time of 13.16 seconds and Gallant was 61st in a career-best time of 13.63.
The event concludes on Saturday as the field events get underway at 9 a.m., while the track events are set to start at 10 a.m.
