MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—For the second time in three weeks, Babson College senior
Caroline DiGiovanni (Harwich, Mass.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
A senior forward, DiGiovanni erupted for six goals and 12 points over the final two games of the regular season as No. 3 Babson extended its winning streak to 14 with a pair of victories. She scored a career-high four goals to help the Beavers pull away for a 5-2 win at the University of New England on Tuesday and followed it up with two more markers in Saturday's 5-0 triumph over Wheaton to extend her scoring streak to six games.
DiGiovanni, who has 12 goals in her current six-game scoring streak, has 23 goals and 46 assists on the season to lead the NEWMAC in both categories, as well as ranking seventh in Division II in goals per game (1.21) and 21st in points per game (2.42). She also ranks fifth all-time on Babson's single-season goals list, fourth on the Babson career goals list with 57, and ninth on the career points list with 119.
No. 3 Babson, which finished the regular season with a sparkling 18-1 overall record and a perfect 9-0 conference mark, will host a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on Thursday at 6 p.m. at MacDowell Field.
