No. 4 Field Hockey Travels to Springfield for NEWMAC Play on Tuesday Evening

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson owns a 21-18 lead against Springfield in the all-time series that dates back to 1996.
• The Beavers have won 16 in a row over the Pride, including the last nine encounters by at least three goals.
• The Green and White have won the last six games in Springfield since the Pride's last home win in 2011.

LAST MEETING
• Katie Guden M'25 tallied two goals and added an assist to lead No. 7 Babson to a 6-0 victory over Springfield on October 19, 2024 at MacDowell Field.
Andrea Marguerite '24 M'25, Sophie Croci M'25, Jessica Evans '25, and sophomore Penny Baroni all scored one goal in the victory, and senior Alex Michelotti and Berit Sharrow '25 collected assists for the Beavers, who outshot the visitors 32-0.
• Senior Kaitlyn Parent and Neilee Hess '25 had respectable performances in the Springfield goal, Parent making nine saves in the first 39 minutes and Hess stopping six of seven shots over the final 21 minutes.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 4 Babson (14-1, 6-0 NEWMAC) extended its winning streak to 10 games and its shutout streak to five with a 6-0 conference victory over Clark on Saturday at MacDowell Field.
• DiGiovanni registered a natural hat trick in the opening 17 minutes of the game, and junior Ashley Braren, sophomore Lilly Goettsche and first-year Aurielle Wolf tacked on one goal apiece for the Beavers. First-year Madison Tibbals and senior Josie Ashton made one save apiece to combine on the shutout in the Beaver goal.
• DiGiovanni (15-0-30) is second in the NEWMAC in goals and ranks third in points while Baroni (9-5-23) is tied for sixth in goals and assists and seventh in points. The Babson duo also leads the conference with four game-winning goals. Braren (4-1-9) is third on the team in scoring, seniors Alex Michelotti (3-2-8) and Laney Reed (3-0-6) are tied for fourth in goals, and junior Grace Mullaney (1-5-7) shares the team lead in assists.
• Tibbals (0.94 GAA, .794 sv. pct, 50 saves) has started 14 straight games between the pipes and allowed one goal or fewer 12 times.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
• Springfield (9-5, 4-2 NEWMAC) has won its last three games following a 4-1 victory over Mount Holyoke Saturday in South Hadley, Mass.
• First-year Rachel Simkewicz tallied a pair of goals for the Pride, while juniors Ava Coppola and Samara Skully scored one apiece and classmate Hailey Gaydos added a pair of assists in the win. First-year goalie Sam Orcutt made a pair of saves in goal to register the victory.
• Simkewicz (14-3-31) is third in the NEWMAC in goals and second in points as a rookie while the veteran Gaydos (9-7-25) is tied for sixth in goals, tied for the league lead in assists and sixth in points. First-year Clare Moore (6-4-16) and senior Nicolette Morlock (5-5-15) are also strong offensive threats for the Pride.
• Orcutt (1.72 GAA, .784 sv. pct, 87 saves) has started all 14 games in goal for the Pride and ranks fifth in the league in save percentage and shutouts (3).

WEEKLY HONORS
• Babson swept this week's NEWMAC weekly honors for the second straight week as DiGiovanni and first-year Anna Bonazzoli were named Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week on Monday.
• This recognition comes on the heels of Baroni and Tibbals receiving the same awards last week for the Green and White.

NEWMAC RACE
• Babson sits alone in first place with a 6-0 conference record and WPI and MIT are tied for second just a game back at 5-1.
• Springfield (4-2) is alone in fourth place, while Wheaton (3-3) and Wellesley (3-3) have the upper hand in the battle for the final two playoff berths.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
• DiGiovanni became the 14th player in program history to join the 100-point club on Saturday and is now tied for 11th with 103 points (49g, 5a) with Lauren Curley '22 and Jessica Evans '25.
• The senior standout needs just one goal to become the ninth player in program history to score 50 goals and the first since Brianne McGrath '23 M'24.

CONFERENCE DOMINANCE
• The Beavers have captured 48 straight contests against NEWMAC opponents including the conference tournament, since the start of the 2021 campaign. The last setback was a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 NEWMAC title game.
• Babson extended its regular season conference winning streak to 74 games over the last 10 years since a 1-0 verdict at Mount Holyoke on October 17, 2015.
• The Green and White have won 38 straight NEWMAC road games going back to the loss at Mount Holyoke in 2015.

TIMELESS SUCCESS
• The Green and White have won their last 62 games in the month of October since 2018; the last loss in the 10th month was a 2-1 setback at Montclair State on October 28, 2017.
• The Beavers are 49-3 in weekday games over the past five seasons.
• Babson is 40-1 in night games going back to October 3, 2018.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White have won their last 78 games over the past five years when leading at halftime.
• Since the start of the 2021 season, Babson is 85-2 when holding the opponent to no more than one goal. The only losses were 1-0 in overtime at No. 8 Williams in 2024 and 1-0 to No. 4 Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in 2022.
