MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Babson College senior Joao Araujo (Boca Raton, Fla.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

A four-year starter for the Beavers, Araujo keyed a strong defensive effort to help Babson remain undefeated in conference play with a 2-0 win over MIT on Saturday. The senior center back played all 90 minutes as the Beavers allowed just one shot while posting their second consecutive clean sheet.

A starter in eight games this season, he has helped Babson allowed just eight goals in those eight games. He is a key member of a Babson defense that has allowed 0.92 goals per game this season that ranks fourth in the NEWMAC.

Babson (7-4-2, 3-0-0 NEWMAC) is back in action on Saturday with a conference road match at Salve Regina, beginning at 6 p.m.
