WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College captured a pair of regular season and tournament championships on the way to finishing third in the 2024 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Presidents Cup standings, which were released on Monday afternoon.
The Presidents Cup is an all-sports award presented to the top overall men's and women's programs in the conference and is determined using a weighted points system based on the order of finish during both the regular season and championship play.
The Beavers improved their point total for the fourth year in a row and recorded a department-best 8.97 points to come in behind MIT (11.27) and Springfield College (9.13). Coast Guard Academy came in fourth with 8.73 points, while WPI rounded out the top five with 8.10 points.
Field hockey captured its third consecutive NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships back in the fall, while women's lacrosse went unbeaten in league play before claiming its second straight conference tournament championship in May. Soccer and tennis both finished second in the regular season standings and advanced to the their respective NEWMAC finals, while volleyball reached the conference semifinals after grabbing a share of second place.
Softball advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament final after coming in fourth in the regular season standings, while basketball won a pair of road contests to reach its third consecutive conference championship game as the fifth seed. Track & field came in sixth with its second highest point total in school history, while swimming & diving and cross country finished seventh and 11th at their respective championships.
Field hockey advanced to the Division III Final Four for the second time in school history, women's lacrosse reached its first Sweet 16 since 2010 and women's volleyball earned a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth year in a row. Soccer also made its first NCAA appearance 2015 and was selected as one of 16 regional hosts for the first time.
