WHAT TO KNOW
•    After winning a pair of games on Tuesday, fourth-seeded Babson and third-seeded MIT as the final two teams in the NEWMAC Tournament without a loss. 
•    In a game originally scheduled to be played on Friday in Springfield, the Beavers and Engineers will meet with a spot in Saturday's NEWMAC final on the line.

SERIES HISTORY
•    Babson is 46-27 all-time against MIT in a series that dates back to 1988. 
•    The teams have split eight games over the last three seasons, which includes four contests decided by either one or two runs. 
•    The Green and White and MIT traded shutouts in their regular season doubleheader back on April 6 in Babson Park. 

POSTSEASON HISTORY
•    Babson is 3-6 all-time in the conference playoffs against MIT. 
•    Thursday's contest will be the eighth postseason meeting between the teams since 2017. 
•    Five of the last seven games between the teams have been decided by one or two runs. 

LAST MEETING
•    Senior Molly Hennessy drove in first-year Emily Walsh with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and classmate Moira O'Reilly struck out eight and allowed just two hits in a complete-game shutout to lead the Beavers to a 4-0 game two victory over MIT on April 6 in Babson Park. 
•    Junior Sara Moore came through with an RBI double in the second and first-year Jackie Paglieri executed a squeeze bunt in the sixth for Babson, which had dropped game one of the twin bill 11-0 in five innings. 
•    Kennedy Adkison and Kara Hines both singled for the Engineers, who made three errors in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Fourth-seeded Babson (26-16) has won six consecutive games after edging top-seeded Springfield 1-0 in the second of two games on Tuesday. 
•    O'Reilly fanned four and spun a three-hit shutout, while sophomore Sophia Pak drove in sophomore Allie Cubberly for the only run of the game in the top of the sixth inning for the Beavers, who got hits from six different players in the win. 
•    Moore is batting .349 with six doubles, two triples, 23 stolen bases, 14 RBI and 27 runs scored, graduate student Cassidy Musco is hitting .315 with four doubles, 14 stolen bases, 10 RBI and 18 runs scored, and classmate Michaela Russell enters the day with a .301 average to go along with five doubles, 15 stolen bases, 14 RBI and 22 runs scored. 
•    O'Reilly (16-7, 1.33 ERA) has won her last 11 decisions and leads the league in strikeouts (222) and shutouts (9) to go along with a 0.99 WHIP in 158.0 innings, while first-year Katie Vlacich is 10-9 with a 3.53 ERA and two shutouts in 113.0 innings on the year. 

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
•    Third-seeded MIT (26-12) has won four consecutive games and defeated second-seeded Wheaton 4-1 in the second of two games on Tuesday to stay unbeaten in NEWMAC Tournament play. 
•    Katia Pendowski plated the go-ahead run in the top of the fourth and Mackenzie Relihan added to the lead with a two-run single in the sixth for the Engineers, who saw Caroline Langmeyer allow one run on five hits in a complete-game effort to earn her second win of the day in the circle. 
•    Mikayla Cable is batting .402 with eight doubles, four home runs, 36 RBI and 35 runs scored, Olivia Scarpaci is hitting .367 with nine extra-base hits, 15 RBI and 20 runs scored, and Arianna Kumar enters the day with a .322 average to go along with four doubles, three triples, 26 RBI and 22 runs scored. 
•    Langmeyer (17-4, 1.75 ERA) has recorded 140 strikeouts in 132.0 innings and has won nine of her last 10 decisions, while Becca O'Connor is 4-5 with a 4.73 ERA in 60.2 innings this spring. 

CANAN REACHES 600 WINS
•    Thanks to his team's sweep of Clark last Friday afternoon, Babson head coach Dave Canan became the 23rd active Division III head coach with 600 career wins. 
•    Since arriving prior to the 2000 season, Canan has gone 602-384-1 for a .610 winning percentage, and has produced 12 seasons of at least 25 victories while finishing below .500 just twice. 

MOORE NAMED NEWMAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
•    After producing a pair of multi-hit games and going 10-for-16 (.625) at the plate with one double, four stolen bases, three RBI and five scored, Moore was tabbed as the league's player of the week on Monday. 
•    She had a .611 on-base percentage and slugged .688 over five games to help the Beavers end the regular season with four straight wins. 

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK
•    Already the program's leader with 762 strikeouts and 24 shutouts, O'Reilly recorded her 61st win of her career against Springfield on Tuesday to pass Ali Reilly '18 as the program's all-time leader. 
•    O'Reilly's ninth shutout of the year on Tuesday against the Pride also marked her single-season program record achieved back in 2022. 
•    Senior Kate Karamouzis drew three more bases on balls on Tuesday to up her season total to 28 and enters Thursday's contest ranked second in program history behind only Jack Enos '13 with 81 career walks. Enos drew 82 free passes from 2010-13. 

TOURNAMENT TESTED
•    O'Reilly is 10-6 with a 1.78 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP and 114 strikeouts in 106.1 innings in her career in the postseason.  
•    In 13 games NCAA and NEWMAC Tournament games over the last two years, Karamouzis is batting .447 with three doubles, two triples, 11 RBI and seven runs scored, while Moore is hitting .405 with 11 runs scored from the leadoff spot. 

STREAKING INTO THE POSTSEASON
•    Karamouzis has reached base in 17 consecutive outings and is batting .423 with a .659 on-base percentage during this stretch, while Moore has gotten on base in 11 straight contests. 
•    Musco enters Thursday's clash with MIT riding a six-game hitting streak.

BEAVER BITES
•    Moore is first on the team with 12 multi-hit games, while Walsh has at least two hits in nine contests and Musco owns eight multi-hit performances. 
•    Raymond, who hit a three-run homer in the win over Smith, leads the Green and White with 26 runs batted in and has a team-high eight multi-RBI games. 
•    Junior Athena Hadjipanayis leads the Beavers in both doubles (9) and extra-base hits (11). 
•    Moore (23), Hadjipanayis (20), Walsh (18), Russell (15) and Musco (14) all rank among the top 10 in the NEWMAC in stolen bases. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 11-7 in one-run games and 13-8 on the year in games decided by two or fewer runs. 
•    Babson is 23-1 on the year when allowing two runs or fewer this spring. 
•    The Green and White is 21-5 when scoring first and 11-2 when putting up a run in the first inning. 
•    The Beavers are 17-4 when outhitting their opponents. 
•    Babson is 23-4 when it is leading or tied after five innings this season. 

UP NEXT
•    The winner will advance to Saturday's NEWMAC Tournament final, while the loser will need to win three straight games to claim a conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
