Clark Tabbed NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

WESTWOOD, Mass.— Babson College sophomore James Clark (Southborough, Mass.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.

A sophomore righthander, Clark was superb in his only start of the week, recording a career-high nine strikeouts while allowing just one hit over 7.0 shutout innings in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Springfield. He retired 17 of the first 19 batters he faced and carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning.

Clark has posted a 5-2 record with a 4.44 earned run average in nine starts this season, allowing 43 hits in 52.2 innings while striking out 47 batters. He is second on the team and tied for eighth in the NEWMAC in victories, and ranks fifth in the league in innings pitched, ninth in opponents' batting average (.230) and 13th in strikeouts.

Babson (25-10, 12-4 NEWMAC) is the third seed in this week's NEWMAC Tournament and will host sixth-seeded MIT (17-19, 7-9) in a play-in game on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Govoni Field.
