Chris McDonough (North Andover, Mass.), junior
Julian Ivarra (Plano, Texas), and sophomore
Brooke Jankowski (Methuen, Mass.) posted top-10 finishes to highlight the Babson College men's and women's track & field teams on day one of the Division III New England Championships Friday afternoon at Mount Holyoke College's Turf and Track.
McDonough turned in the top performance, qualifying second in the men's 100-meter dash preliminaries in a time of 10.59 seconds to earn a spot in Saturday's final. The top seed in the event, McDonough finished just behind Thomas College's LJ Raye (10.55) and ahead of third place Derek Shen of Bates.
Ivarra brought home fourth place in the 5,000 meters, finishing in a personal-best time of 14:59.36. He was three-and-a-half seconds behind third-place Seamus McDonough of Bowdoin (14:55.89) and nearly 15 seconds faster than his previous top time of 15:10.57 that he ran at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Collegiate Track meet back on March 16.
Jankowski had the top showing for the Babson women, finishing in 10th place in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.73 seconds to earn the final spot in Saturday's finals. Her time was two-tenths of a second off her 15.53 that she ran at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) meet last weekend.
Senior
Michael Agard (Marietta, Ga.) finished in the top 20 in a pair of events for the Beavers. He placed 12th in the 100-meter dash in a season-best time of 10.86 seconds, two one-hundredths of a second off qualifying for Saturday's finals. He also placed 18th in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 9.25-inches.
Sophomore
Julia Pike (Mansfield, Mass.) finished in 12th place for the Babson women in the 100-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 15.96 seconds, just 23 one-hundredths of a second off qualifying for the finals. Classmate
Robyn Wilkes (Atlanta, Ga.) tied for 17th place in the 100 meters preliminaries in a personal-best time of 12.72 seconds but fell 16 one-hundredths of a second short of qualifying for the finals.

Demarre Johnson (Dallas, Texas), who finished 16th in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best time of 10.95 seconds; senior
Eric Bottern (Saint Paul, Minn.), who wound up 17th in the hammer throw with a heave of 159-feet, 3-inches; first-year
Gabe Rosenberg (Silver Spring, Md.) and junior
Harrison Prucher (Hopkinton, Mass.), who were 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.95 and 15.96 seconds; and first-year
Nicolas Kube (Dover, Mass.), who placed 20th in the javelin with a throw of 164-feet, 11-inches.
The remainder of the two-day meet will take place on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
