WORCESTER, Mass.— Babson College first-year
Chris McDonough (North Andover, Mass.) placed seventh in the finals of the 100-meter dash at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) championships Saturday afternoon at Holy Cross' Hart Turf Field & Hart Track.
After qualifying fourth in the preliminaries on Friday with a time of 10.61 seconds, McDonough crossed the finish line in 10.75 seconds in Saturday's final. The only first-year to make the finals, he was the second Division III finisher in the race and finished just five one-hundredths of a second out of fourth place. Boston University senior Dakota Jackson won the title with a time of 10.57 seconds.
The NEICAAA championships includes athletes from nearly three dozen teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. McDonough's seventh place and junior
Julian Ivarra's (Plano, Texas) third place in Friday's 10,000 meters gave the Beavers eight points, which is tied for 23rd in the men's team scoring.
Babson returns to action with a last chance meet at MIT on Thursday before the NCAA Championships selections are made late next week.
