Men’s Track & Field Wins Three More Events and Records Two New England Division III Qualifying Times at MIT Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Babson College men's track & field team took first place in three events among its nine top-six finishes and posted a pair of New England Division III Championships qualifying times at the Sean Collier Invitational Saturday afternoon at MIT's Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track.

First-year Chris McDonough (North Andover, Mass.) had a strong meet for the Beavers with a pair of top-five finishes, including first place in the 100-meter dash. His time of 10.75 seconds narrowly edged Amherst College's Alex Nichols (10.76) and Jordan Harrison (10.77). McDonough also placed fifth in the 200 meters in a time of 22.07 seconds.

Babson's 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Max Gregoire (Tyngsborough, Mass.), first-year Niko Manolakos (Shrewsbury, Mass.), senior Demarre Johnson (Dallas, Texas), and first-year Kainoa Ronquilio (Waipahu, Hawaii) crossed the finish line in first place in a season-best time of 3:26.10, and senior Eric Bottern (Saint Paul, Minn.) captured the shot put with a season-best throw of 55-feet, 2.75-inches. The three winning performances came on top of senior Anthony Rodriguez (Prairie View, Ill.) winning the 10,000 meters in a school-record time of 29:43.61 on Friday night.

First-year Stratton Seymour (Merrimac, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 57.82 seconds to place third in the 400 hurdles. His time was a New England Division III qualifying time and just 0.04 seconds off the school record of 57.78. Johnson also hit the New England D3 qualifying standard with a time of 10.97 seconds in the 100 meters, which was good for seventh place.

The Beavers had two in the top five of the 110-meter hurdles as junior Harrison Prucher (Hopkinton, Mass.) took third in a season-best time of 15.73 seconds and first-year Gabe Rosenberg (Silver Spring, Md.) finished fifth in a season-best 16.09 seconds.

Junior Jack Reynolds (Fairfield, Conn.) tied for fourth place in the high jump with a season-best leap of 5-feet, 9.75 inches. First-year Jordan Wright (Haworth, N.J.) placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 39-feet, 7.25 inches.

Other top 10 finishes on the track included Ronquilio placing eighth in the 200 meters (22.35), first-year Gerado Fernandez (St. Johnsbury, Vt.), ninth in the 400 meters (51.24), and classmate Jonathan Hanscom (Hadley, Mass.), ninth in the 5000 meters (16:26.35). Other top 10 performances in field events include Bottern taking ninth in the discus (132-feet, 10-inches), and junior Will Dean (Belmont, Mass.) and Reynolds finishing eighth and 10th, respectively, in the javelin (149-feet, 6-inches and 136-feet, 1-inch).

With the regular season in the books, Babson heads to Springfield College for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships next Friday and Saturday.
