Women's Lacrosse Travels to Coast Guard for NEWMAC Opener on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 9-0 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 2015.
•    The Beavers have been victorious in each of their five previous visits to Cadet Memorial Field, which includes a 13-10 victory in April 2022. 

LAST MEETING
•    Emily Curtis M'23 finished with three goals and three assists and Erin Jayne '23 added four goals and one assist to help the Beavers cruise to a 19-8 win over Coast Guard on April 22, 2023, in Babson Park. 
•    Junior Jessica Evans finished with three goals and two assists and classmate Clare Connolly recorded 20 draw controls for the Beavers, who raced out to a 10-3 first-quarter lead. 
•    Caitlin Coates scored three times, Gianna Cascio had two goals and three caused turnovers and Brenda Anderson handed out three assists to lead the Bears, who 19-4 entering the fourth period. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS 
•    Babson (2-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) is coming off a 13-9 win at then-No. 17 Chicago last Sunday. 
•    Evans scored four times, juniors Amelia Novitch and Kathryn Blake added three goals apiece and senior Zoë Michaud tied for game-high honors with four caused turnovers for the Beavers, who scored 10 of the first 11 goals in the second half to lead by as many as six late in the fourth quarter. 
•    Graduate student Lily Ives (11-2-13) has opened the season with three straight multi-goal games, Novitch (8-2-10) and Evans (7-1-8) both have produced a pair of multi-goal games, and Blake (5-3-8) leads the team in assists. 
•    Connolly (4-1-5) leads the team with 18 draw controls, Michaud has eight forced turnovers and junior goalkeeper Kathleen Murphy has posted a 12.12 goals against average to go along with a .462 save percentage in three starts. 

SCOUTING THE BEARS
•    Coast Guard (5-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) has won its last three games after defeating Hartford, 15-3, last Saturday. 
•    Coates (4g, 2a), Sarah Skurat (4g, 1a) and Abby McAllister (2g, 3a) combined for 16 points and Mia Becker finished with five draw controls, five caused turnovers and two ground balls for the Bears, who scored the first seven goals of the game. 
•    Coates (18-4-22) has three or more goals in five of the first six games, McAllister (11-10-21) is first on the team in assists and Addy Bass (12-2-14) has at least one tally in 17 of the last 18 contests going back to last season. 
•    Becker leads the team with 29 draw controls, 19 caused turnovers and 13 ground balls, while the duo of Maici Mintchwarner and Devon McCue have combined to post a 7.08 goals against average and a .469 save percentage on the year. 

MICHAUD NAMED NEWMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
•    After forcing four turnovers and scooping up three ground balls in the win at Chicago, Michaud was tabbed as the league's defensive player of the week on Monday. 
•    Michaud and her Babson teammates recorded a season-high 16 caused turnovers and held the Maroons off the scoreboard for more than 21 minutes from late in the second quarter to early in the fourth to turn a three-goal deficit into a 9-6 lead last Sunday. 

SUCCESS IN THE NEWMAC 
•    Going back to 2016, the Beavers are 60-8 against NEWMAC foes. 
•    Babson is 49-5 versus conference opponents in the regular season and has won 30 of its last 34 road games in league play. 
•    The Green and White has finished either first or second in the last six full seasons (excluding 2021) and has played in each of the last seven NEWMAC Tournament finals, which includes victories in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2023. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Ives, who transferred to Babson following a successful four-year career at Trinity, has at least one goal in 44 consecutive games going back to March 27, 2021. 
•    Evans has at least one goal eight consecutive games dating back to last spring, while Blake has scored in four straight outings. 
•    Ten different players recorded a caused turnover in last Sunday's win at Chicago. 
•    Manning, who forced three turnovers in the win over the Maroons, has at least one caused turnover in five straight games and 11 of the Beavers' last 12 contests dating back to April of last season.
•    Murphy has stopped at least six shots in seven consecutive game going back to last year's NEWMAC Tournament.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 2-0 this season and 28-1 going back to the start of 2022 when taking a lead to the fourth quarter. 
•    Babson has won 38 of its last 39 games when holding its opponents to 10 goals or less.
•    The Green and White is 9-1 since the start of last year when scoring at least four free-position goals. 
•    Babson has outscored its first three opponents 25-13 in the second half this season.
