Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.),
Amelia Novitch (Dover, Mass.) and
Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.) all scored three times during a 10-1 second-half run that helped visiting Babson College rally for a 13-9 win over No. 17 University of Chicago in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon at Staff Field.
With the win, Babson improves to 2-1 on the year while Chicago had its two-game winning streak snapped and is also 2-1 on the season.
Evans finished with four goals and one assist for five points to lead all scorers, while Novitch and Blake (Medfield, Mass.) both scored three times to lead the Beavers. Classmate

Sophomore Jill Hoey (Syosset, N.Y.) and first-year Wynne Boggan (Phoenix, Md.) both scored three times for the Maroons. Sophomore Kali Konstantinakos (Massapequa, N.Y.) tied for game-high honors with four caused turnovers and junior Rachel Keefe (Greenwich, Conn.) made 12 saves in defeat.
Trailing 6-3 at halftime, the Green and White outscored the hosts 5-0 in the third quarter to seize command of the game. Novtich and Blake scored 45 seconds apart and Evans followed with her second goal of the afternoon to tie the game just over three minutes into the third quarter. Novitch put the Beavers ahead at the 4:43 mark and Evans extended the lead to 8-6 just 39 seconds later.
Junior Olivia Escoffery (Garden City, N.Y.) stopped the six-goal run to pull Chicago back within 9-7 with 11:43 to go in the fourth, but scored twice to bookend another four-goal run as Babson's lead swelled to 13-7 with just over four minutes to play.

Lily Ives (Chappaqua, N.Y.) opened the scoring at the 12:12 mark of the first quarter only to see the Maroons respond with five straight goals to take their largest lead of the game with 10:16 to go in the second. Junior
Michaela Downer (North Andover, Mass.) stopped the run 34 seconds later and Evans notched her first goal of the game as Babson got back within 5-3 midway through the stanza.
The Beavers outshot Chicago 40-22 and finished with a 28-21 edge in ground balls. They also finished with a season-high 16 caused turnovers and went 4-of-7 on free-position shots.
Babson is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Coast Guard at 12 p.m. for its NEWMAC opener, while the Maroons face Stevens on Thursday at 3 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colo.

• Sunday's matchup was the first between Babson and Chicago.
