Women's Soccer Hosts Wheaton in a NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal on Tuesday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 15-28-10 all-time against Wheaton in a series that dates back to 1981. 
•    The Beavers are unbeaten in three straight matches versus the Lyons and are 5-4-6 in the series since 2011. 
•    Seven of the last 15 games between the sides have been decided in overtime since 2011. 
•    The Green and White is 3-1-3 against Wheaton at home since 2012 although the lone loss came in the 2016 NEWMAC Tournament. 

POSTSEASON HISTORY
•    After playing six times in the conference tournament from 2004-16, Babson and Wheaton will meet in the league playoffs for the first time in eight years on Tuesday afternoon. 
•    The Beavers are 2-6-2 all-time against the Lyons in NEW 6/NEW 8/NEWMAC Tournament history, which dates back to 1987, and 1-3 in the quarterfinal round. 
•    The Green and White suffered a 1-0 loss in the 2016 quarterfinals after recording a 2-0 victory over Wheaton in the 2015 conference semifinals. 

LAST MEETING
•    The Beavers and Wheaton battled to a 1-1 draw in the NEWMAC opener for both teams back on September 21 in Babson Park. 
•    First-year Josie Lee scored 52 seconds before halftime to put Babson in front before Ali Roche notched the equalizer for the Lyons in the 70th minute. 
•    Senior Nora Ryan made one save for the Green and White, which finished with a 17-2 edge in shots, while Patricia Bandrup stopped six shots for Wheaton. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Fourth-seeded Babson (7-6-5) concluded the regular season with a 1-0 loss at Clark on Saturday afternoon. 
•    The Beavers outshot the Cougars 9-1 in the first half and 19-4 for the game but conceded the lone goal following a turnover in the 52nd minute and were unable to find a late equalizer. 
•    Senior Elisa Diletizia (6-0-12) has scored five times in league play and leads the team with three game-winning tallies, classmate Jordyn Ferrantino (1-4-6) is first on the team in assists and Lee (2-2-6) and senior Laura Lukowicz (3-0-6) have combined for three goals against NEWMAC foes. 
•    Ryan has started all 18 matches and owns a 1.21 goals against average and a .756 save percentage to go along with a career-high seven shutouts on the year. 

SCOUTING THE LYONS
•    Fifth-seeded Wheaton (8-4-7) is unbeaten over its last seven matches after playing to a 0-0 draw with Coast Guard on Saturday. 
•    Bandurp finished with six saves for the Lyons, who outshot the Bears 14-10 on the way to setting a new single-season record for ties. 
•    Roche (6-0-12) has four goals against league foes and has scored in two of her last three outings, Lily Brown (3-2-8) is tied for first on the team with two game-winning markers, and the duo of Julia Sternat (2-4-8) and Mackenna Reynolds (1-5-7) have combined for nine of the squad's 17 assists. 
•    Bandrup has started all 19 games this fall and ranks first in the league in goals against average (0.74), is tied for first with seven shutouts and is second with a .891 save percentage. 

GOALS AT A PREMIUM
•    Babson has recorded eight shutouts this season and has had 10 of its 18 games finish with a scoreline of 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1. 
•    Wheaton has seven clean sheets while 13 of its 19 matches have featured a total of two goals or fewer. 

HOME-FIELD SUCCESS
•    The Green and White is 4-1-1 on Hartwell-Rogers Field this fall against NEWMAC foes, which includes ending the season with four consecutive victories. 
•    The Beavers outscored their six opponents 12-6 at home while posting three shutouts. 
•    Including last year's postseason, Babson has scored at least one goal in 10 straight home games going back to October of last season. 

NEWMAC TOURNAMENT TRENDS
•    Babson has advanced out of the quarterfinals in eight of their last 11 appearances (8-2-1) since 2012 with all but two of those matches being played at home. 
•    Each of Babson's last four NEWMAC Tournament victories going back to 2019 have come by a single goal. 
•    The Beavers' last postseason shutout came in the 2021 quarterfinals when it fell in penalties to WPI following a 0-0 draw. 

WHEN 90 MINUTES ISN'T ENOUGH
•    No overtime was played during regular season contests for the second consecutive season but all postseason matches will feature two 10-minute periods of extra time if a game is deadlocked at the end of regulation. 
•    If the game remains tied after both overtime sessions, a winner will be decided by penalty kicks.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Both teams have recorded a goal in just six of the Beavers' 18 games this fall. 
•    Babson is 22-0-3 over the last three seasons when leading at halftime.
•    The Beavers are 6-0-2 this season when scoring the opening goal of the match. 
•    Babson is 5-1-5 on the year when it concedes one goal or fewer. 
•    The Green and White is 6-2-2 this season on grass. 

UP NEXT
•    The winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal will face either top-seeded and third-ranked MIT or eighth-seeded Coast Guard in a semifinal on Thursday.
