TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Graduate student
Anthony Rodriguez (Prairie View, Ill.) came in sixth overall to help the Babson College men's cross country team place 17th out of 46 squads at the Division III Pre-National meet on the LaVern Gibson Course on Friday night.
Rodriguez crossed the finish line with a time of 24:35 that ranks as the third fastest in program history on the 8k course. Gunner Schlender (24:08) and Christian Patzka (24:15) of Wisconsin-Whitewater were the top two finishes, Cameron Hatler of Pomona-Pitzer came in third with a time of 24:23 and Dan Anderson (24:31) of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Peter LaRochelle (24:32) of Haverford rounded out the top five.
First-year
Nick Yacoub (Sharon, Mass.) placed 49th for the Beavers with a time of 25:29.72, while senior
Julian Ivarra (Plano, Texas) came in 74th with a time of 25:51. Graduate student
Ryan Wilson (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) finished 208th after crossing the finish line in 27:03, sophomore
Almond Nickerson IV (Darien, Conn.) was 241st with a time of 27:21 and first-year
Sam Zabbo (Warwick, R.I.) was eight seconds behind him in 253rd position.
Sophomores
Jonathan Hanscom (Hadley, Mass.) and
Brian Gall (Norwalk, Conn.) were separated by a tenth of a second in 273rd and 274th place, respectively.
No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer totaled 65 points to finish ahead of No. 3 Wisconsin-Whitewater (82), No. 10 George Fox (152) and No. 12 MIT (172). Babson, which was seventh in this week's USTFCCCA Region I rankings, totaled 523 points to come in just behind Caltech (514) and Trine (515).
Babson returns to action on October 19 when it travels to Waterford, Conn., to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational.
