Women's Soccer Travels to Wellesley Looking for First NEWMAC Win on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 22-19-10 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1982. 
•    The Beavers are unbeaten over their last six matches against the Blue (3-0-3) and have lost just once in 10 contests between the sides since 2013. 
•    The Green and White has won its last two games and is 6-1-3 on the road against its crosstown rival going back to 2005. 
•    Although overtime in regular season games was abolished prior to the 2022 campaign, nine of 19 matches between 2004-21 between Babson and Wellesley were decided in extra time.

LAST MEETING
•    Senior Jordyn Ferrantino finished with a goal and an assist as the Beavers played to a 2-2 draw with Wellesley on September 30, 2023, in Babson Park. 
•    Cassie Lawson '24 scored in the seventh minute and Ferrantino made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute before the Blue used goals by Paige Sangston (30th minute) and Elina Saab-Sunden (63rd) minute to get back on level terms. 
•    Senior Nora Ryan and sophomore Callahan Cottone combined for five saves for Babson, while Riley McNair and Sascha Fleesler each played 45 minutes and finished with 11 saves for Wellesley. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (2-4-3, 0-1-2 NEWMAC) is winless in its last four matches after suffering a 3-1 loss to WPI on Wednesday afternoon. 
•    Senior Elisa Diletizia scored in the 53rd minute and Ryan finished with two saves for the Beavers, who fell behind 2-0 just 7:04 into the match after conceding a pair of penalty kicks to the Engineers. 
•    First-year Josie Lee (2-1-5) and Diletizia (2-0-4) have each scored a game-winning goal, Ferrantino (1-1-3) is one of three players with an assist and senior Laura Lukowicz and sophomore Janiya Ocampo have both scored once on the year. 
•    Ryan has started all nine matches and owns a 1.38 goals against average and a 1.38 goals against average and a .761 save percentage to go along with three shutouts. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE
•    Wellesley (5-3-1, 1-1-0 NEWMAC) has won two straight matches and is coming off a 1-0 victory over Wheaton last Saturday. 
•    Olivia Chow-Gillette put away a service from Carrie Huang in the 51st minute and Fleesler made a pair of saves for the Blue, which outshot the Lyons 15-6 on the day. 
•    Chow-Gillette (5-0-10) has scored four times over her last four games and is tied for the conference lead in goals, Isabelle Tolosa (1-4-6) is tied for first in the NEWMAC in assists, and Solveig Unteroberdoerster (2-0-4) has one game-winning goal. 
•    Fleesler, who has started each of Wellesley's NEWMAC matches, and McNair have combined to post a 1.00 goals against average and a .791 save percentage to go along with four clean sheets on the year. 

FOURTH TIME'S THE CHARM
•    Babson, which is sitting on two points in the conference standings, has started conference play winless through three matches only to win its fourth game three times over the last decade. 
•    The Beavers defeated Springfield 1-0 after drawing its first three contests in 2015, beat Coast Guard 5-0 after starting 0-1-2 in 2017 and were 2-0 winners over the Bears again in 2019 after opening league play with two losses and a tie. 

SEEING BLUE
•    Ferrantino has produced a goal and two assists for four points over the last two seasons against Wellesley, while junior Izzy DeMatos scored her first career goal in the Beavers' 2-1 win over Wellesley back in 2022. 

DEPENDABLE DEFENSE
•    The Babson backline of Lukowicz and sophomores Claudia Baiter, Jadyn Mapura and Caroline Sutherland has conceded just three goals from the run of play over the last six matches. 
•    The Green and White has kept three clean sheets while conceding more than one goal just once during this stretch. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 1-0-1 this season when leading at halftime. 
•    Babson is 2-0-2 on the year when scoring the first goal. 
•    The Green and White is 2-0-3 when conceding one goal or less this fall. 
•    Babson is 56-4-4 when scoring at least two goals against NEWMAC foes dating back to 2012.
