SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 2 Babson (9-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) posted its third straight shutout on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over No. 5 Tufts at MacDowell Field.
• Sophomore
Caroline DiGiovanni scored a second-quarter goal and Hanyon tacked on a penalty stroke marker in the third quarter to secure the win. Furmanek made four saves, all in the fourth quarter, to preserve her fifth shutout of the season.
• Marsh (8-3-19) is tied for third in the NEWMAC in goals and tied for fourth in points while McGrath (7-2-16) has three multi-goal games and two game-winners. Graduate student
Sinead Walsh (5-5-15), Marguerite (5-1-11) and DiGiovanni (5-0-10) have five goals apiece and Hanyon (3-6-12) is second in the NEWMAC in assists.
• Furmanek (9-1, 0.80 GAA, .814 sv. pct) tops the NEWMAC in goals against average and shutouts and ranks second in save percentage.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
• Smith (4-5, 1-1 NEWMAC) is coming off back-to-back shutouts over Salve Regina (2-0) last Saturday and Keene State (4-0) on Wednesday.
• Juniors Annie Winsatt and Laura Dreher scored two goals each in the win over Keene State, Winsatt producing her first two goals of the season. Sophomore Callahan Day and junior Elena Korinek each scored in the NEWMAC victory over Salve Regina, and sophomore Abby Halpin made a season-high 10 saves against the Seahawks.
• Dreher (5-1-11) and Day (5-0-10) share the team goal scoring lead for the Pioneers and Wimsatt (2-2-6), senior Abbey O'Meara (2-2-6) and first-year Gracie Hylton (0-2-2) share the team lead in assists. Junior Kaeli Bennett has a team-high two defensive saves.
• Junior Rory Harper (2-4, 3.33 GAA, .775 sv. pct, 1 SO) started in goal the first six games of the season for Smith and Halpin (2-1, 0.33 GAA, .995 sv. pct, 2 SO) has started the last three.
NFHCA HONOR FOR MARSH
• After her monster performances in wins over Skidmore and Wheaton last week, Marsh was selected as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
• Marsh, who earned NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Monday, produced six goals and two assists for 14 points in the two wins, including a program-record tying five goals against Wheaton.
SCORING MACHINE
• The Green and White have outscored their opponents 47-8 this season and are ranked eighth in Division III in goals per game (4.7) and seventh in scoring margin (+3.9).
• Babson has gotten goals from 15 different players, at least three goals from seven players and at least two goals from 10 scorers.
THEY'VE GOT YOU CORNERED
• The Beavers average 13.3 penalty corners per game, which ranks second in Division III in attempts per game.
BEAVER BITES
• Hanyon is 3-for-3 this season and 12-for-12 in her career in penalty strokes, accounting for 12 of her 13 career goals.
• McGrath has moved into the top 10 on Babson's all-time scoring list with 104 career points. She also ranks 11th with 41 goals and tied for 13th with 22 assists.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers have scored in the first three minutes of the game in six of their last seven victories.
• With the win over Wheaton, the Green and White extended their NEWMAC regular season victory streak to 52 games dating back to 2015.
