SERIES HISTORY
• The Beavers are 15-3 all-time against the Beacons in a series that dates back to 1978.
• Babson has won the last seven and 14 of the last 15 matchups between the teams, including last year's game which was the first meeting since 2012 and just the third since 2003.
• UMass Boston's last win in the series was a 7-6 victory on April 29, 1999 in Babson Park.
LAST MEETING
• Senior Chi Chi Price finished with career highs of five goals and seven points to help lead Babson to a 17-11 win over visiting UMass Boston on April 6, 2022 at MacDowell Field.
• Sophomore Colt Bordonaro scored three times and juniors Grey Sunderland and Topher Bower both finished with two goals for the Beavers. Sunderland won 15-of-27 face-offs, junior Brendan Maher contributed season highs of six ground balls and four caused turnovers, and Price and Drew Thomas '22 each added three caused turnovers in the win. Mac Mowat '22 made a season-high 16 saves, while senior Will Parducci matched his career high with five saves.
• Junior Jacob Banks tied for game-high honors with five goals, all in the fourth quarter, and graduate student Gavin Admirand contributed two goals, two assists and a game-high seven ground balls to lead the Beacons. Jack Dobrzynski '22G won 13-of-22 face-offs and scooped up seven ground balls, while senior Trevor Koppy and Christian Meinhold combined to make 17 saves in the loss.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (6-2, 3-0 NEWMAC) has won five of its last six games following Saturday's 15-9 road victory over Springfield that moved the Green and White into sole possession of first place in the conference.
• Graduate student Will Spangenberg finished with three goals and four assists for seven points and Parducci made a career-high 19 saves in the win. Grad student Ryan Kenney and first-year Bennett Smith both contributed three goals and one assist, while Price and junior Jacob Tauss added two goals apiece for the Beavers. Sunderland won 10-of-17 face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls in the victory.
• Spangenberg (25-22-47) has at least five points in four straight games and six of his last seven, while Kenney (25-7-32) has six consecutive games with at least four points. Price (27-1-28) leads the team in goals and has scored at least one goal in 14 games in a row dating back to last season. Sunderland has a team-high 48 ground balls, followed by junior Sammy Kalishman (21) and Spangenberg (20).
• Junior Dillon Quinn has registered a team-high 11 caused turnovers and Parducci (6-2, 10.51 GAA, 56.9 sv. pct) leads the NEWMAC in goals against average and is second in save percentage among starting goalies.
SCOUTING THE BEACONS
• UMass Boston (7-3, 2-0 LEC) has won its last six games, scoring at least 21 goals in each victory and setting a program record last Saturday in a 33-2 triumph over Salem State.
• Graduate students Connor Smith (5-5-10) and Gavin Admirand (5-4-9) and junior Jacob Banks (3-5-8) led the way for the Beacons in the scoring barrage that saw 18 different players score goals. Junior Matt Lucozzi won 14-of-15 face-offs and senior Jason McNeany captured 11-of-13, and first-year Colin Colby collected a team-high seven ground balls and caused three turnovers.
• Admirand (41-31-72) ranks fourth in Division III in points per game, Smith (31-11-42) has four man-up goals, senior Luke Murphy (12-17-29) is second on the team in assists, and junior Charlie Chapman (20-5-25) is third in goals. Lucozzi has won 123-of-179 face-offs and possessed 50 ground balls while McNeany has won 85-of-130 face-offs and collected 46 GBs. Sophomore Sean Cullagh has caused 18 turnovers while senior Trevor Koppy (6-3, 12.20 GAA, .526 sv. pct) has started nine of 10 games in goal.
• UMB finished 17-3 a year ago after defeating Keene State in the Little East Conference championship game and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
ALL CLEAR
• Babson enters Tuesday's contest ranked second in Division III with a .917 clearing percentage through eight games, which includes being successful on 19 of 21 clears at Springfield and all 25 clearing chances against Coast Guard back on March 18.
• The Beavers' opponents have been successful on just .79.7 percent of their clearing chances and only Union (17-of-21), Bowdoin (15-of-15) and Springfield (19-of-21) have converted more than 80 percent.
AMONG THE NCAA LEADERS
• Babson is ranked second in Division III in fewest turnovers per game (13.71).
• Spangenberg is ranked 23nd in the nation in assists per game (2.67) and 17th in points per game (5.67).
PILING UP THE POINTS
• With 47 points through eight games, Spangenberg has more points than Price totaled in 2022 when he led the team in scoring with 43 points (35g, 8a).
• Only Samuel Mishkind '19 (43-12-55) in 2019 has more points in a season than Spangenberg since Alex Patinkin '13 accumulated 68 points (32-36) in 2013.
BUSY BEAVERS
• Parducci has made at least 13 saves in six of his last seven games with at least a 55.0 save percentage in all six, including three with at least 61.9 percent.
• Price has scored at least three goals in five games this spring, with four five-point outings.
• Kenney has recorded six straight multi-goal games and first-year Bennett Smith has at least two points in each of his last five games.
• After sitting out the first three games, Stucchi has at least two points in four of his five games.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 6-0 this season and 20-1 since the start of 2020 when leading at halftime.
