Four from Men's Lacrosse Earn USA Lacrosse All-America Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Four members of the third-ranked Babson College men's lacrosse program were recognized when USA Lacrosse announced its Division III All-American teams on Thursday afternoon.

Graduate student Beau Burns (Washington, D.C.) was named to the All-America third team, while fellow grad student Joey Allen (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior Tyee Ambrosh (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Andrew Almquist (Wakefield, Mass.) all garnered an honorable mention nod. The four selections were each First Team All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) honorees and first-time All-America recipients for the Beavers.

Burns has recorded one of the top seasons in program history at the face-off X. Playing in 17 games, he has won 74.9 percent of his face-offs (194-of-259), including 83.6 percent against New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponents (61-of-73), and has collected a team-high 137 ground balls. He is fifth in Division III in face-off winning percentage and ranks 32nd in ground balls. He is currently the program's all-time single-season leader in face-off winning percentage, his 194 wins are fourth-most in a season all-time, and his 137 ground balls are third-most on the program's single-season chart.

Allen leads the team in scoring in his first season with the Beavers and after transferring from Washington & Lee. He has produced 67 points on 42 goals and 25 assists in 19 games, and he has scored 10 man-up goals, which ranks 10th in Division III. He has tallied at least two goals and three points in 13 outings overall and tallied a season-high eight points (5g, 3a) in a win over then-fourth-ranked RIT on February 28. He is tied for seventh on the Babson single-season goals list and his 67 points rank tied for seventh on the program's single-season scoring list.

Ambrosh has played in 19 games as a short-stick defensive midfielder and leads the team with 22 caused turnovers to go along with 35 ground balls. He is a key player for a Babson defense that leads the NEWMAC and ranks 17th in Division III allowing 8.1 goals per game. He helped the Beavers limited 15 of their 20 foes overall to single-digit scoring. A four-year veteran of 67 career games, he has recorded 43 caused turnovers and 71 ground balls to go along with four goals and two assists; his 43 caused turnovers has him ranked tied for 14th on the program's all-time list.

Almquist has enjoyed one of the best goalie seasons in program history, and he was named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year. The starter in all 20 games, he has registered an 18-2 record and is ranked ninth in Division III with a .607 save percentage and 13th with an 8.31 goals against average. He recorded double-digit saves in 14 games, including 20 stops against then-fourth-ranked RIT in February and 19 against top-ranked Tufts in April. He owns the Babson record with 18 victories this spring and his 244 saves rank second-most all-time. He also provided a highlight-film performance with his first career goal in the NEWMAC championship game against MIT.

Babson, 18-2, captured its fourth consecutive NEWMAC Tournament title this spring and is playing in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in six years. The Beavers have advanced to the national quarterfinals for the first time in program history and will meet No. 10 RIT on Friday at 7 p.m. in Brunswick, Maine.
